Reiss:

10. Great stat from ESPN.com’s Mike Sando, whose roster database produces nuggets such as these: After trading (OP edit: "you know who"), the Patriots now rank as the 28th-oldest team in the NFL. As of Jan. 2, they were the league’s second-oldest.

I believe this could also be expressed as "fifth youngest" team.

And after next springs draft. We will be one of the two or three youngest teams. Old guys like; F.Taylor, S.Morris, G.Warren will probably be replaced by rookies. The OL is the only position where we have a lot of vets. And, that's a good thing.

Cue the Pessimistic Petes to decry Kraft and Belichick denying the team veteran leadership

It's amazing how quickly the team was flipped around. The young defense struggles at times but the potential is exciting to watch, and I'm really high on the entire group.

The one area to watch out for is OL. Koppen is really struggling at times, Mankins is holding out and may never play for us, and Neil/Light are near the end. Connelly has exceeded my expectations and Vollmer can slide over to LT, but none of the younger kids looked good during pre-season action. Right now we're okay, but it will be an area of need in the next year or two.

Veteran Leadership!? Like this is the biggest problem! We're CLEARLY rebuilding! By the time these guys are good enough to win Tom will be too old to play! And stupid Goodell won't let him bring an Audi wheelchair onto the field so he can still play with them.

This is a disaster! It's the swine flu of football! EVERYBODY PANIC

Q: Are you giving up on the season?

"Are you kidding me? We're in it to win."

Red Sox/Celtics are still old, and of course we are not young we are too young, as the haters will preach this season.

Just proves how the age of team is a bit pointless, we move 26 places by losing 1 player! If thats the case imagine Favre actually pi**ing off

I think Warren, Bodden, and Faulk being out contributed to this drop in age.

No we moved 26 places from the team that played in week 17 last year to todays roster.

Put this together with the change in the O that makes Moss a non fit with the new scheme.

And of course 8 picks in the first 2 rounds (before numerous moves during the draft ). the team has reloaded for the new CBA and the rest of Brady's time in the league. Don't sleep on this young D if we get to the plauoff's. The will be past their 'rookie' year at that point.

There is no change in the offense. If Moss of 2010 was Moss of 07-09 (mostly mentally) he would have the same production, not 45% of it.

Andy, perhaps he was unwilling to go over the middle as he did in 07? I saw alligator arms last season (injury?) and basically saw him running the fade ely and the deep post the only time I saw him running in the middle of the field was in the end zone, where he wouldn't take a huge hit after the catch.

In 2007 we ran 3 & 4 wideouts as a base, now we are running 2 TE as a base different O IMO.

BTW the REVELATION if what a weapon Hernandez is and how efficient Brady is throwing to him is driving the change, Moss would have been miserable being the 3rd option in the passing game.

Refusing to go over the middle would be part of giving less than 100%.
But I have seen Moss run more than 3 routes this year, and the play call tells him his route, he doesn't choose it. If he refuses to run other routes, thats what I am talking about.

Are you seriously telling me that you think Randy Moss being 100% committed to the team should be traded because he might be taking catches away from AARON HERNANDEZ?
You can't really but that can you?

And btw, we have always run a lot of 2 TEs, but the way we are using Hernandez is the way we used a 3rd WR in past years.
There is no significant change in our offense because the guy in one of the slots is called TE instead of WR.

Let just put it this way.
Do you honestly think that if Moss was committed to the team, could be relied on to give 100% and wasn't loafing that Bill Belichick would think the team is better off without him?

I don't know how committed Moss was or wasn't. I will cheer him when he is introduced on 10-31 for his time with the team esp 2007-08

IMO BB thought the team would be better now w/o Moss than with Moss.

You didnt answer the question, though.
If Moss was committed to the team, is the team better without him, or is he team better because he wasn't going to be bought in?
Of course BB thought the team was better without him.
We are discussing WHY.
It is incredulous to me to think that BB one dy decided a football team is better without the best deep threat in the NFL, who has produced 50 TDS in 52 games. Unless the reason is that he wasnt that player any more. I do not think his skills have declined that much, and even if they did, you can get another half season out of him as a decoy before people figure it out.
Moss is no longer a Patriot, and for that the Patriots are a worse football team. Randy Moss not wanting to be part of this team or give 100% to it is the reason.
In the end the Patriots are better team because they remove the cancer that would have brought the team down, but if Moss was committed to this team he would still be here.

Does a 100% 'committed" Moss mind beinga #3 option in the passing game if it is better for the team?

Does a 100% committed Moss run the entire route tree to allow the O to run the route combinations to have the best offense?

Does a 100% committed Moss run over the middel and take a hit from a lb to make a catch without having alligator arms?

I don't know, the the answer is no NOW, then this is the right move. That isn't a knock on Moss it is recognizing the situation of this team NOW and where Moss is NOW.

I think this move will make the Vikings better Farve will have fun padding hsi stats and throwing INT in big spots with Moss. Moss will get his contract we will win SBs with out revamped roster everyone goes home happy.
