Davie, FL (AP) -- Several law enforcement agencies are looking into the ritual killing of at least 41 chickens around Pro Player Stadium. Mutilated chicken carcasses have been found with their feathers painted in the aqua and orange team colors of the Miami Dolphins who played the New England Patriots at Pro Player Stadium last night. The mutilated chickens were discovered in several public parking lots and the private parking for Dolphins' players and stadium employees. Police sources will not comment, but unconfirmed reports also place mutilated carcasses inside the stadium.
Sergeant Choquette, a spokesperson for the Davie Police Department Public Information Office, confirmed police are looking into the incident, but declined to provide further details at this time. Sergeant Choquette advises any person having information concerning mutilated chickens contact the General Investigations Unit of the Davie Police Department at 954-693-8200.
The Humane Society of Broward County confirmed they had received reports of chicken mutilations and were cooperating with Davie Police. Animal Care Associate and Board Secretary "Ginny" Miller expressed sadness at the cruelty and noted the Humane Society receives several tips each month concerning ****fighting and other gaming activities in and around Broward County. "Animal cruelty is not just confined to household pets," said Miller, "**** fights and other underground sporting activities kill hundreds of chickens, dogs, and exotic animals annually. We actively work with local law enforcement to investigate any tips we receive from the public."
