As I said in another thread, if he can be had for something reasonable, I think Willis McGahee could be useful. 109 carries for 544 yards last year shows he can play in a committee. Can run with power between the tackles and get tough yardage. My friends who are Ravens fans say his blocking is underrated but I'm not convinced.

Don't kill me for this, but what about Edelman as a third down back? Can he block? Faulk isn't big, and he protects Brady well. Edelman has a great burst and acceleration, plus he take off on a deep route. Thoughts?

By the way, Faulks receiving role may very well go to Edelman.

I actually think this is Sammy Morris' moment to shine. While there's only one Kevin Faulk, I think Morris can do a more than serviceable job in that role, at least until Woodhead knows his blitz pickup assignments. Let's beat Buffalo, surprise Miami, be alone atop the division at 3-1 at the bye, and take it from there. We'll be fine.

We should have had a better player than Green-Ellis on the squad before releasing Maroney. If maroney played for another team, we would be considering acquiring for a 4th rounder.

I don't think that I want Edelman being responsible for being the outlet receiver and being responsible to protect of the franchise from blitzes.

The reality is that we we have 5 lineman, 1 quarterback and a 1 running back on the field at almost all times. Unless Edelman is the running back, he is one of options to have on the field as a receiver. Since one of the tight ends will also be on the field almost always, Edelman will compete with Tate for reps at WR, not with the running back.

IMHO, if anyone lines up in the backfield it will be Hernandez, not Edelman.

Larry Johnson is the kind of back, that could flourish with a good team in a good environment I have always liked him as a solid RB. Dont know what, actually, happened to him.

I'll tell you what happened to him,After Holmes best days were over,Johnson was literally run into the ground by way of KCs offense which was almost a solely ground game

Sorry to be a cynic here, but RB was a weak position at the beginning of the year and is weaker now. Slow backs running behind a poor run-blocking line. Next year they will certainly overhaul the position as the current crop ride off into the sunset. Until then, it is what it is. Antwain Smith and Corey Dillon are not walking through the door. They are going to dance with who they brought. Maybe Logan comes back. Maybe an unexpected surprise. Maybe Freddy and Sammy have a last hurrah in them.

Taylor wouldn't be a disaster in Faulk's role. That one great blitz pickup block he threw in Game 1 suggests he gets the idea. He's probably "better" overall at ball skills than Faulk, albeit in a less appropriate mix for the role; perhaps that could work out to be a wash.

Thus, bringing in somebody new to replace Taylor on some short-yardage bruising carries -- thus freeing him up for some of Faulk's reps -- might be workable.
