Re: OT (Jets) : this is what an idiot sounds like

What bull pucky!

"When you walk into a room"??? How about when you walk onto the field? And I'm sure that collection of egomaniacs has bought into Sanchize as Supreme Commander of the Jets because "he knows [they] know nobody worked harder than he did."

Cripes!!

LOL nice catch! He'd better hope he walks OFF the field with the same bravado It's gonna be a great season.

Re: OT (Jets) : this is what an idiot sounds like

Sorry guys, but this thread's a bit of a reach. I dislike the Jests as much as then next guy, but I can't fault a young QB who is trying to establish himself as the team leader.

Now, you want to talk about idiot Jest fans who think that Dirty Sanchez is an elite franchise QB after the abysmal numbers he put up last year...now THAT would be a worthwhile thread. (Want a hearty laugh?... go over to JI and see what the unwashed masses are predicting for the Green Beans this year. Many say 14-2 and predict the Pats at 7-9)

I'm not buying it.

Don't remember TFB spouting off like that about team leadership in 2002 even having won a SB. And you'll remember that with the Pats back then there had been an issue of QB team leadership recently 'resolved'.

Sanchez is such a tool.

Re: OT (Jets) : this is what an idiot sounds like

"This is my team," Sanchez said. "This is my offense. You need to own it. . . . When you walk in a room, people should know: That's the quarterback. That's our guy."

So . . . does that mean he takes ownership for that pass that hit the cameraman in the family jewels?

it's all in the presentation. he sounds like an idiot

There's nothing wrong with what Sanchez said other than the fact he said it publicly instead of just keeping it to himself. The biggest point of all is that the only way he can earn that kind of respect is through on-field performance, which he hasn't done yet. Being a "hard worker" during the off-season and "acting" like a leader is all well and good, but none of that carries any weight without backing it up on game day. He should be keeping his mouth shut, but that's not how folks act down there.

Re: OT (Jets) : this is what an idiot sounds like

I'm not buying it. Usually the guys who have to spout off and beat their chests about how they're true team leaders to the media are anything but.

Re: OT (Jets) : this is what an idiot sounds like

I can't stand listening to Sanchez. He always sounds like he's trying so hard to be a stand-up, leader type guy but he really just sounds lame.

Re: OT (Jets) : this is what an idiot sounds like

I guess I am in the minority, but I have no problem with what Sanchez has said. He is the QB and by default it is his offense good or bad. He will be given credit if it is good and blame if it is bad.

All the crap Rex Ryan has been spewing this camp so far on the other hand is another thing. The guy has talked up so many players you would think he had the best players in NFL history at each position playing on the Jets. I know the Jets fans eat up his act, but I find it tiresome.

+1...especially the point about Wrecks. Ryan is a great DC who is in way over his head as HC. The guy's a blowhard with nothing to back it up.

If Rex wasn't Rex Sanchez' remarks could be seen in a different light, that's true. But the walk into a "room" point was a good one lol. Field would've sounded better.

Sanchez is Rex's Rambo

Re: OT (Jets) : this is what an idiot sounds like

Sanchez would have been better served to remain quiet. In the military, it's called "Leadership by Example". It means you let your actions speak for you. he was what, last year? 9 TD and 20 INT? His team got into the playoffs because the Colts let them win?

Until Sanchez DOES something to earn the respect of his team, until he actually LEADS by example, he isn't worth squat and he ought to keep his adolescent mouth shut.

Like was said earlier, though, that isn't the way they do things down in JESTville.

I disagree. He has put together a great defense. IF (big if) Sanchez improves
a little bit that should make a big difference. Rexy did make some stupid choices
(IMHO) this off season with some of the refuse he has collected. If it pans out
he will be called a genius, if not, he will be called a failure. Not much different
than most other coaches. I don't care for his boisterous ways but to not give
him and the team some credit for last season would be disingenuous at best.

He's done nothing. Just shut up and play.
Actually remember last year when he said "he felt bad for Tom Brady because he had to face their defense". Really?? Who does he think he is? God I can't WAIT til Sept 19 Somebody needs to set him straight, again

Wrong. He said the Jets would have a top defense and running game before the '09 season. That wasn't backed up? Try again.

Sanchez is obviously the unquestioned leader of the team now, and I'm happy to see that. Everyone in the locker room respects him.

I didn't see anything wrong with Sanchez' comments. However, if he plays the 'bus' game the way that Manning does, the New York media will use these quotes to pillory him.

Agreed about his defensive prowess. That's why I called him a great DC. He himself, admitted sometime in the middle of the last season, that he needed to learn his OWN team's offense. That, plus his many instances of clock mismanagement and misuse of challenges, makes ne think he's over his head as a HC. IMO, the front office gets kudos if their 'refuse' pans out, not Jabba Wrecks.

Re: OT (Jets) : this is what an idiot sounds like

Really? Do you spend a lot of time there?

No, but I follow the Jets very closely. Everyone stood behind him during his slump last year. He was the guy. This year, he's respected even more. The guy put in a lot of work to better himself in the offseason, and the team respects that.

He also said the Jests should be the favorite to win the SB, and that all other teams should fear them. I don't think anyone's going to forfeit the games when they have the Green Beans on the schedule.
