If that's really the case then how utterly foolish of Rex to feed the head of the beast that is Revis Island full of delusions of grandeur, and how utterly stupid of Tannenbaum to open Pandora's Box when his hands were tied to deal with the consequences. Take Revis off your JETS team and you don't even sniff the playoffs last year on a double rollover gimme...

Rex and Tanny didn't help their own cause to be sure but I think this holdout was inevitable after the non stop media praise of Revis Island. People that know Revis's camp say they realize his hype is at an all time high and they are taking advantage of the situation. He was doing this no matter what Tanny and Rex said.

Wait! Think about this. Remember Namath's excerable QB rating and penchant for picks? Maybe JETS fans are, like a stopped clock, right now and then.

Stopped clock....blind squirrel. Potato...Potahto.

you guys are funny...
some of you are even talking about a week 2 matchup without Revis playing, thats funny.

you know as well as i do that this will be resolved in the coming week and Revis will sign a new contract and be in camp.

the media and fans in general making too much out of it,its all talk talk talk, they will kiss and make up and then have a sexy press conference with everyone claim true love for each other.

the entire thing is kinda funny.

The entire thing is hilarious, from the point of view of a Patriots fan.

Not really though, Revis's uncle Sean Gilbert sat out an entire season to force a new contract in 99. I don't think the Jets would let it get to that level but still this isn't just a walk in the park holdout.

and if Jets cave to Revis.....

One must wonder how Mangold and Harris will feel...

the time are different, sitting down will hurt Revis a lot more then the Jets and he knows that, also Revis is his own man,it got nothing to do with what his uncle did.
the Jets also know that they need him on the team,it will be solved in the coming week.

Hope you're still laughing when the Green Beans go 7-9 without their all-world CB. Revis is being advised by his uncle Sean (Gilbert) who was the last player who sat out an entire year and eventually forced his team to trade him. Thinking Revis will not do the same is wishful thinking at best. Reports have Revis demanding a huge guarantee for both skill and injury, something current rules don't allow unless the guarantee is paid entirely up-front. Woody's broke due to the PSL disaster so that's not happening anytime soon. Jet's FO screwed the pooch on this one. You can blame Jabba's big pie-hole as well.

But you're right about one thing. This is extremely funny.

Revis, relaxing by the pool instead of taking the beatings of an NFL season, and awaiting his mega-contract which absolutely will eventually arrive, is going to be hurt more than the team that has crafted its entire defense around the notion that Revis can shut down the opposing teams' best WR on his own or with just help over the top?

Dude, really....

Funny, you are the only one who think this will be resolved in the next week. There is a chance it could be signed by the start of the season, but the problem is like Brady and Manning the uncertainty of the CBA makes it very difficult to resign Revis. If Revis doesn't show my August 10th (the cut off point for him to get credit for the season), look for this hold out to last into the season because the odds are pretty good he will be out.

Rex told Revis that he was the best player that hes ever coached. Better than Ray Lewis or Ed Reed.

He also said that Revis was as important to the Jets as Brady is to the Patriots or Manning is to the Colts. When a coach talks like that about a player, it gives him tons of leverage in the negotiations. This is why you will never hear Belichick overpraise a player even the caliber of Brady.

if Revis is so important to the Jets defense like you guys say he is then the Jets will solve it in the coming week.

So the Jets will have the CBA negotiated and signed by the NFLPA by next week? Good to know there won't be a work stoppage next year because the Jets need to sign Revis by next week.

You do understand that a huge reason why Revis doesn't have a new contract right now is because of the uncertainty of the CBA and the 30% rule. I am sure that Revis won't accept a Ferguson type of contract where nothing is guaranteed until next season just to get a few extra million right now.

I think this couldn't be further from the truth. Do you know how far apart the two sides are?

Reading Rex Ryan's presser from today and reading BB's pressers from everyday - man, they could not be more different! And, as much as BB may be a d-bag - Ryan just is.

seriously.jets fans.....this is just spinning out of control.I actually feel bad for tannenbaummeister.

The problem here is he needs to tell Jabba the Hut to (Please be quiet - edited)......Ryan is a coach, who acts like he wants to be one of the players.......not a coach's player...but actually...a player.

He puffed up Revis, for no good reason, and now Tanny and the ownership, are paying the price.

They offered to go to Revis's house?.....pathetic.
All they had to do is tell "the anointed one",that being the highest paid DB in the NFL was not going to happen for at least 2 years....period.

Once they made a counter-proposal to a playa,who has 3YRS,left on his contract.....they were toast........Nail meet coffin.

They should have told him:"When you come off this strategy, call us,we'll talk then".

The pats did this with Mankins......Jabarri Evans money?.....sorry,we love you,but no.They may lose him,but they won't be dealing with the Insane Clown Posse, for the next 5 years.

Shut up ryan......stop talking to revis and prepare to move on....otherwise,you're gonna be jimmy carter.....circa 1983....hoping for a miracle.
