Because it's more fun to jump to conclusions based on negative emotions alone that arose from the time of the draft? I know a lot of people overreacted against the McCourty pick because they wanted a passrusher in round 1, not a CB. Know what I say? Get over it. Watch this kid in training camp. If he looks bad then you can hoot and holler and say I told you so, I knew he would be a BUST.

Until then, why don't we wait and see if BB isn't a total incompetent at drafting 1st rounders. He has a pretty solid track record in that area but I'm sure all these posters think they are smarter than BB.

The (few) scouting reports I've read mention that he has smooth/fluid hips. Here's one report on nfl.com.

It was a deficiency in college. It was noted by scouts. I'm not going to bother looking for the link, but it was commented on by at least one writer during OTAs or minicamps.

If that's not fact enough for you, so be it. It's what I've seen and heard. You apparently have seen something different. There aren't a lot of perfect players out there, so I don't see why you lost your mind about this in the first place, but whatever floats your boat.

There was a scout (can't remember who) that had said McCourty didn't have good hips. However, the vast majority of scouting reports I read said the exact opposite. IMO, McCourty was the best corner in the draft, and he's a special teams monster to boot. Great pick by the Pats.

Some draft guru had Mcourty going no sooner than the 6th round.

All Ive read is that he has fluid hips and speed which is likely the reason Ken says Mcourty is better to play outside vs faster WRs and not in the slot.

There was one comment about that, I forget who from, but it was the minority opinion. It also wasn't stated as a significant issue. Maybe you expect our late #1 to be perfect with not a single potential negative comment. The vast majority praise his hips, it's nuts to take one, minority, opinion that wasn't an overly critical comment at the time and make a big deal about it.

It's fine to list a perceived deficiency, but the lack of anything positive to say is what threw me off. What about the fact that he's supposed to be a solid tackler (for a corner anyway), or that he should add value to one or more special teams units.

You might say we don't KNOW those things are going to play out, but we don't KNOW his hips will be a problem either. It's all speculation, so at least list the good with the bad. Otherwise you're not being objective.

I was watching Dancing with the Stars and they said Mcourty was very rigid when he danced unlike Jason Taylor.

From what i was reading, his only real measurable that wasn't elite was his verticle jump. If memory serves, it was somewhere around 33-34 inches.
