Quentin Groves traded... the next Lawrence Taylor...

For the record I didn't like Groves but I did think Harvey was great!

Quentin Groves

"The Twitter account allegedly registered to DE Quentin Groves indicates that he's been traded to the Raiders.

Groves tweeted an hour ago, "OAKLAND HERE I COME!" and changed his Twitter avatar to the Raiders' logo. Acquiring Groves, a situational defensive end, would decrease the likelihood of Oakland selecting Jason Pierre-Paul with the No. 8 overall pick. It would also amplify the Jags' pass-rushing need."

Wow, first Kamerion Wembley then Quinten Groves. Perhaps the Raiders might be calling the Jets for Vernon Gholston while they're at it. Let's assemble an entire team of draft bust edge rushers.

As for the Jags need for a pass rusher, while I agree it exists, how do the Jags not select a defensive back at #10? Their coverage was awful last year.

With the benefit of 20-20 hindsight, a few gems from this board in discussions about Groves as a draft prospect two years ago.

he has the production of an AD clone.

I fully admit that I was a big Groves fan. But right before that draft, weird vague rumors started circulating about him. I remember an interview with one draft expert who was asked to predict a big bust of the draft, and he named Groves. When asked why, he got all mysterious and made it sound like it was something he really shouldn't talk about. :confused2:

Classic

Of course I'm sure I'm in there one way or another..

Didn't he have a heart condition?

I remember really liking him as well, and was disappointed that he didn't do a lot. I wanted him and Avril, and disappointed we ended up with neither. I still like Avril a lot, but I don't think either one really fit our scheme.

Wow that gives me shudders about the Gholston Comment i'm Crayzeechris on there scary.

You cant swing a dead cat without hitting a OLB bust. Drafting one high has its risks, and sometimes(Vrabel)they can be rehabbed. Its also the reason that they get so much $$ in FA, no way was Thomas worth what he got(or Colvin for that matter)but he was the best available...
