Re: Ben Roesthlisbungler is on the block..

Actually, Pittsburgh is traditionally a Democratic town. I don't know about feminist...but they heavily supported Obama's campaign.
In general, the city has a "lunch pail" mentality - and Ben's judgement has disturbed a lot of people there.

I'm guessing that it is a democratic town not because of its progressive social dynamic, but because of the importance of labor organizations to the local populace.

i wasn't talking about Political Parties, but about a down to earth mentality, rooted for decades in the labor movement, that characterizes the people, democrat or republican.

A lot of people, including myself, were outraged over how "easy" Stallworth got off for killing someone DUI. Money takes care of a lot. But Stallworth always seemed truly remorseful.

.......And then there's Ben, who also seems to have benefited legally from his status as a celebrity athlete, able to hire an OJ-type defense team and turn his young accuser's life into a circus-like living hell had this gone further.

As more details have come to light, outrage is rightly building--not only because of what he did, but also by what the DA didn't do. It might have actually been better for Ben in the long run had he been charged.

Re: Ben Roesthlisbungler is on the block..

perv ?

he is what 25 and he had sex with some 20 yr old.lol . i do not see the big deal. the girl never said rape only her friend is complaining.

Some people's standards are a bit higher than the laws. some people prefer not to sleep with girl's in the midst of blacking out, girls who have friends trying to save them, and some guys don't have off-duty cops barring people from bathrooms so that they can have sex with girls in the middle of blacking out.

Last several years Pittsburgh has been getting more snow than Buffalo, but Pitt is a tad bit warmer, like 3 or 4 degrees. Buffalo has the lakes.

The problem for mine is as more details come to light they are from one side of the fence. You can effectively say whatever you like today especially when a celebrity is involved. Big Ben is a meathead and does have a history of idiotic off the field behavior but I'm not going to hang him out to dry like everyone is for the sake of it. If and if as reported it's all true then something needs to be done as he'll ruin the lives of many more people.

It will be interesting to see what evolves from all this.

As a man who has a freshman daughter in college, I can promise you if Ben Rapelisberger or ANYONE dragged my daughter into a bathroom and raped her, there would be need for a grand jury to convene...that boy would turn up in a high grass field with a throat smile by razor. Sideburn to sideburn. Or in Ben's case, sideburn to mole!

I am a tolerant man, but this is one thing I do not tolerate for in any way shape or form.

And, if this rumor is true, then I am proud of the Steelers for shipping this punk out of town on a rail and putting ethics over winning.

As a father of a now 31 year old share your sentiment, this cannot be minimized.. especially as one of his law enforcement bodyguards stood by the door.. he is a creep and should be dealt with as such..

This is the 4th situation we know of..

It is being reported that he got a 6 game suspension...

Pitt is smart to deal him. Hes damaged goods and things will never be the same just like Tiger Woods.

The bike wreck, 2 sex assaults and Ive heard hes pixxed off a lot of people in the Pitt area even before all the trouble began.

Somehow, Arnold Palmer is connected with the Steelers, Pittsburgh area, or something and he absolutely hates Rothlisburger.

Re: Ben Roesthlisbungler is on the block..

The Bills need a lot more than a QB to become a threat. And I have always believed Little Ben is overrated anyway. He started his career on a good team with an amazing defense. And he has great weapons on offense. Put him on a lesser team and I bet he won't accomplish much.

His weapons from 2004-2007 were not that great outside of Hines Ward. Hate Roethlisberger all you want (I do), but he's undoubtedly one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL.

Re: Ben Roesthlisbungler is on the block..

That would be a pretty devestating blow to the first round pick that we got for Seymour.

I don't know why everyone thinks Ben would come on a NEW team with NEW coaches,NEW receivers,NEW Running Backs and a MEDIOCRE coach and all of a sudden start winning immediately after week 9?

'Devastating Blow' is a bit strong,Ben plays 1 position

As someone who lives in "the burgh"

The city is Democratic. The outer counties (Washington/Westmoreland/Butler) follow the standard GOP style political lean. This is not different than across most cities. As with almost all of the rest of the country, it's not kook a la Massachusetts.

Big Ben is a meat head. That's realized. It's interesting how the "Steroid Curtain" gets overlooked.

It's not mearly as cold here in winter. However, the rivers do make for interesting weather.

The area has an inferiority complex. That has much to do with sentiment. It's suprising because of the areas has all the advantages of the Northeast with a cost of living comparable to the south.

Well, let's see who has the top ten picks:

  • #1, Rams: I can't see St Louis trading the top pick overall for a PR nightmare.
  • #2, Lions: Forget it, they just drafted Stafford
  • #3, Bucs: Forget it, they just drafted Freeman
  • #4, Redskins: Forget it, they just traded for McNabb
  • #5, Chiefs: Forget it, they just traded for Cassel
  • #6, Seahawks: Possible but doubtful with Hasselbeck still there
  • #7, Browns: Can't see Pittsbugh trading him to their arch-rival
  • #8, Raiders: Is Al ready to admit JaMarcus was a mistake?
  • #9, Bills: ?
  • #10, Jaguars: ?
I wonder how much finances would play a role in the decision making for both Buffalo and Jacksonville, two organizations that probably rank near the bottom of the NFL in terms of cash flow. On one hand Roethlisberger will make more over the next few years than a #9 or #10 pick will, but on the other hand he won't have to be pais a signing bonus up front.

Maybe Minnesota will offer them a #1 in 2010 and a #3 in 2011 if he is not traded before the draft and if Brett tells the owner he is retiring for good in a week or so.

Minnesota would probably be the NFC SB favorite with Ben at the helm

Good for them, those jersey's aren't cheap. The fans are speaking, they're not happy. The Steelers will survive this.

Because JaMarcus Russell was probably responsible for about 6-7 losses last season all on his own, that's why.

I dont think Russell will start,Gradkowski will win that battle

And he took a beating from less than stellar line play at times and is tough to take down. I wouldn't peg him as QB elite (Brady/Manning/Brees), but he is a player in the 4th quarter and can take hits without taking a sack. The Steelers cannot plug a replacement in for him and expect to see the playoffs.

As much as I expect the Rooneys would love to send him packing, necessity will keep him right where he is. Win a few games this year and fans will forget this (not forgive it obviously). I see these trade rumors as smoke and mirrors, possibly as motivation from the Rooneys for the meathead to toe the line or risk ending his career on the worst possible team in the NFL.

Buffalo seems like the logical fit one could argue although Jacksonville and Oakland already have some decent money invested into the QB position I could see either of them jumping on this just because. I know it might not seem like the right choice for the Rams but in turn they would get a proven franchise QB already under contract who hasn't hit his prime yet. If a trade happens I could see Pittsburgh sending a pick to the team trading for Ben or some type of conditional pick for 2011
