What should I do?

Where should I look to buy tickets? Where should I try to sit?

My birthday is 11/1 and my Dad is a die hard Vikings game so it I'm really hoping I can afford to make it to the Pats-Viking game as the date is just perfect.

I really don't want to sell my first born and I'd also like to get the most out of the experience since my last NFL game was 6 years ago and I've never seen the Pats play

Any suggestions would be most appreciated

Park in the stadium when you go. It's $40, and any lot within a half mile of the stadium charges the same, sometimes more, offering a "shorter drive to the highway". It's all bull****, park in one of the lots and tailgate. After the game, kill some time at Bar Louie or CBS Scene. Getting tickets is tricky, try all the regular venues like Ticketmaster and eBay and whatnot. Some people will scalp theirs in the lot but thats generally more hit than miss, and you might be able to get some day of at the Box Office. I was able to get some for the Ravens-Pats playoff game last year.

Make friends with someone who is on the wait list for season tickets. They can buy tickets off of the ticket exchange. Thats what we did last year for the Monday night opener vs the Bills. We ended up with 40 yard line row 12 tickets for $150 each. The same type tickets were anywhere from $300-$900 on stubhub or ebay.

Go early and make a whole day of the game. Visit the pro shop and just hang out and take it all in.

so the chances of me meeting/befriending anybody on the waiting list is slim

This is an option, but probably not the best... The Wednesday before every home game they usually release a ton of seats on ticketmaster at face value. They are not all nosebleeds either, I was able to get 4 seats in row 7 (visitors side) to the 2008 Home Opener against KC. So, if you are willing to gamble and wait until the week of the game, that is always an option.

I, too, was thinking about going to a game next season. I have a friend of mine who's a diehard GB fan and we were going to go out to NY to see some friends who go to university there, then travel down for the game. We were planning on having it around the same time as the NEvGB game.

On average what is the best method to acquire tickets, we want to get 3 tickets with good seating.

Obviously the trip is still in the planning stages, but any suggestions?

My old co-worker is a season ticket holder and although he'd go to every game using his seats, he got me tickets off the TicketExchange whenever I asked (4 seats per game maximum.) I joined the waiting list this off-season just to have access to the TicketExchange. There are ALWAYS tickets available as it's a safe, penalty-free way for season ticket holders to put up their tickets for games they cannot attend. Due to the cost of games and other factors, there are literally hundreds of tickets available for games each week.

Actually, I would advise the opposite. I usually park in a prive lot on the opposite side of the stadium (closer to RI). Typically, if you can find the right lot, you can get out of the parking lot in ten minutes and if you head for 495 and then when you get to the highway, head back to 95N you can save upwards to 30-40 minutes. I used to park at the Ford dealership when I had season tickets, but haven't since I gave them up (and they only let regulars park there).

Parking in the stadium lot guarantees you at least a 30-40 minute wait just to get out of the lot.

There is a $100 per seat deposit that you must put down to be on the wait list. Really if you plan to go to 2 games or more over the next couple of years it might be worth it to just get on the list so you'll have access to the ticket exchange. Better to pay $100 per seat up front and then ticket price for games than to try to buy from stubhub or a third party.

Tailgating, park inside in the Pats lots.

Not tailgating, park a mile away and walk, you'll get out much sooner.

The only problem with that is that those plane tickets appreciate in price as you get closer to the date, especially on that Holiday weekend. I might have to pay a bit more and get them over the summer and hope that the difference is worth negligible rather than risk trying to get those two weeks before the fact.
