1st round vs. trade down

I say we trade our 1st, all three seconds and Tom Brady's first born (developmental QB of course)... for every pick in rounds 5-7, a cheese sandwhich and Big Bens lucky rabbits foot.
Oh yeah, and send our 4th to the Wizard of Oz for a brain for you.

:eat1:

This is probably the 2nd thread I've made in 2 months. Stop telling me what to do, busybody.

This is your second thread this week and both sucked. Honestly nobody really takes your troll-like ideas seriously. If you are serious, you know nothing about the draft or football in general.

Trading down is a "troll like idea"? BB has traded down in many, many drafts. Guess he doesn't know anything about football. He should defer to your judgement. Idiot.

BB also said the value of the draft, in general, is in the 3rd round. Doh! Guess he doesn't know anything about football. Help him out you goddamn blowhard douchebag.

When the **** has BB ever traded a first rounder to get three 3rd rounders? Do you know why 1st round picks are busts? It's because people expect things from them, low round picks aren't bust because not much is expected of them. Nobody called you names so calm the **** down.

Ladies, stop fighting please. All I know is that this team has so many holes it's basically swiss cheese...

heheheheheheh Peter Griffin laugh

How many did Tedy have in his first two years? Answer 0. He didn't make his first pick till his 3rd year and didn't force his first fumble till 2001, a full 5 years into his career. Probably should have gave up on him too.

Bruschi was a third maybe fourth round pick, who sat for about three years. If you want an apples to apples comparison compare Mayo's numbers to Willis of San Fran's numbers.

Both came from the SEC. Both played MLB in the SEC. Both went to 3-4 teams after beiong picked high in the first round and started their first two years.

Come on guys, this is not even close. Mayo makes next to no big plays and Willis changes opponents game plans.

While Mayo has percieved value left let's unload him and draft a guy (McClain) that everybody is calling the best MLB since Willis. A guy with three years of experience in OUR defense, that is one more than Mayo! Hello? Hello?

I don't understand why you think McClain is better than Mayo. He's never even played a down in the NFL. Jerod Mayo is still fairly new as well and is a good player I think.

I think McClain projects better in our defense than Mayo. The reason I want McClain is because McClain is a playmaker and Mayo is not!

For all Mayo's athletism, either his instincts are poor or he is over thinking the position. He does not make hardly any big plays.

I don't think you can call McClain a better playmaker with 0 plays in the NFL. Plus, McClain is no better out of college then Mayo was in my eyes. McClain to the Pats isn't happening anyway most likley, especially for Mayo.

My brother, much like the neutered dog, you just don't get it.

In BB speak. Mayo is what he is. The film says Mayo is a servicable LB that can;t make plays and struggles to stakc and shed.

Howver McClain is alrady more than Mayo EVER was in college and projects to a much higher ceiling than Mayo can ever hope to find let alone achieve.

I hope this cleared it up a bit for you.

just don't think you can call you right and me wrong. Only time will tell. Neutered dog...?Dude...

Trade down. There's too much value not to pick up at one extra 3rd rounder (or more). That said, if Bryant is available we should take him but no one else appeals to me (and has a chance of being there).

Given that they play two different positions in our defense, I see no reason why we can't have both. McClain at Mike, Mayo at Will. Suits each of their talents perfectly, although neither can cover especially well.

I dont understand how anybody can say trade down when you dont know who's going to be on the board at 22 lol. Value Value Value, thats all I hear but we are not a terrible team, if we can get a playmaker at 22 and we will be able to, why trade down to pick up a third rounder? You dont even know whos going to be availbale in the third round. Trading a first for some third rounders is just a stupid idea, especially when we have three goddamn seconds.

Stay at 22. We have 3 2nd rounders this year and had 3 last year. The Pats don't need more picks.

Guys who MIGHT fall who I'd jump at taking with the #22:

Brandon Graham, Earl Thomas, Kyle Wilson, maybe Dez Bryant (now that Holt is on board).

Guys I MIGHT reach for with the #22 because they likely will be gone by #44:

McCourty, Jackson, Saffold, Alualu, Golden Tate.

HOWEVER, if the first three are gone and a deal is offered that gives us a later 1st or a high 2nd, plus a 3rd, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

If we can pick up a couple of impact/need guys (like those in the 2nd list above) with, say, #38 and #44, I'd seriously consider trading the #47 and or #53 downward within the 2nd if it picks up another 3rd, 4th or 5th. There's a huge amount of talent for our specific needs that is likely to be available in those mid-rounds.

You're completely insane, Ochmed. I know you're not a Mayo fan but this is practically a vendetta.

So Mayo learnt a notoriously complicated defense in his first season, then suffered a MCL injury in his second year that restricted him upon his return. And you're complaining that he's not roaming the backfield like the second coming of Ray Lewis?

Barmy, absolutely barmy.

+1...........plus he's playing out of position,next to Gary(hey!,I'm way back here)Guyton.:rocker:

I agree with this. Mayo is better suited to the will and playing next to McClain would make him a much better player, but until Mayo shows me he can do more than make tackles four plus yards down field, I'd rather have worthless Guyton at the will, next to a stud like McClain.

Barmy, absolutely barmy.

Given where Mayo was drafted in relation to where Ray Lewis was drafted, why should not I expect Ray Lewis like big plays from Mayo.

Why can Willis, (who was also drafted in about the same position in the draft, from an SEC school, playing the same position as Mayo), make the transition to a complicated 3-4 defense and excel and make tons of big plays and Mayo not even come close to the same level of production?

It is not a vendetta; it is a fact! Mayo is not qualified to carry Lewis's or Willis's jockstrap.

Let's trade him while his perceived value is high and get a real playmaker like McClain that has helped a team win a national championship while playing ILB, IN OUR DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!
