this is the way i see it he can't handle criticism. the fans seen him as the pass rushing savior. and BB signed him cause he could cover and play both inside and outside LB.


now he is 32 years old and playing on a D line that dose not have seymour, on it anymore. he is not going to beat a OT to the QB a whole lot. so when the fans and the media. got on him about it and he could not handle it.


so he went to BB to tell him he dose not like he's roll in this defense. and BB said shout up and do your job you do what i tell you to do. im trying to win games not get you stats. and AD did not like it.




bottom line is he will be cut after the draft. i can't see him playing for the pats anymore.

Thomas was paid $13M in 2007, $9M in 2008 and $2M in 2009. That's $8M a year for his three years with the patriots. Not bad money of you can get it!

2010 was always a time of decision. His salary plsy workout bonus is $5M for this seson and $6M for next. There is ZERO chance that we are paying him that, and almost a zero chance that he and the patriots will settle on a more reasonable salary for his services tothe patriots.

He mentions getting a gameball vs. Atlanta, then benched 3 weeks later for the Tenn game. The stat line for the Atl game isn't particuarly impressive (4 tackles, 1 assist), but I can't remember that game too well...was he just glued to Tony Gonzalez the whole game? Or was the game ball maybe a positive motivational tool, which BB then deemed didn't work after the Balt and Denver game and had him resort to the benching?

Thomas is gone. When it gets to whining and escuses, especially at his age, it's over.

I'll say what needs to be said here. The Patriots have the best coach and organization this decade. Their recent signings of Wilfork and Bodden are where true leadership comes from.

But...

They screwed up on turning over the linebacker situation. February 2005, Bruschi has a mild stroke, June 2005, TJ retires. Ted Johnson retired 2 days before the start of training camp. Which was in LATE JULY. And it was because he couldn't pass the physical because of the number of concussions he'd suffered.

That retirement was treated as a shock, but i don't know why. If anything, it should have been a call to action. In the five years since then, Beisel Brown etc., the pats responded two years later putting all their chips on one roulette number, expecting a vet with some mileage to play everywhere at LB, at the same time to groom a whole new linebacker corps, while also grooming, but subordinating to, the new appointed leader, a rookie. WOW.. They were so bad expecting Thomas to do for them what he'd been doing for the Ravens. Playing at Multiple different LB positions.. Umm.. Newsflash, Bruschi was still here for a year with Mayo..

That's a pretty tough inside straight to fill. Outside of Rodney Harrison, few vets would be up to such a task.

Did they have bad luck? On the contrary, I would say they had incredibly good luck finding a vet LB pushing 40 with the ability and enthusiasm of Seau. Patch patch patch...they need to build.

At this point, having made do with backups in starter roles, they should have developed some good depth with Guyton, Woods, TBC, Nink and Burgess, if he stays, so one stud at OLB and a smart vet to team at ILB would give them a good corps, I think. On to the future, but we could have done better the last 5-6 years IMO.

My point is simple. The team put a lot of pressure on two players to completely turn around the LB corps. This is unlike the way they operate at other positions.

the hidden message was that tom brady got the best doctors that boston has to offer witch is some of the worlds best. will he got a realy good nurse.

BTW, Adalius is probably in crisis mode because he knows that the Jets' aggressive pursuit of Jason Taylor means he isn't likely to go to the Jets after he leaves the Pats. He needs to convince another team that he is still a good player and a victim of a coaching staff that never gave him a chance.

It seems pretty clear over the years of interviews and snippits... which are the only information we are privy to. He thought coming in he would be playing OLB just like for the ravens and would be ripping it up. Instead BB saw a guy who would play OLB but also be perfect for SILB. Adalius didn't like it. In his own words he said it took a large toll on your body. I basically think that was the situation which answers your two Q's.

I like SMY but you nailed what bothers me about SMY's perspective in this piece. Yes, a reporter's job is to get the behind the scenes story we can't get. And directly antagonizing your source is counterproductive. But the slightest, respectfull counterpoint would have been redeeming in this story. That's the problem.

He might be able to find a job at the veteran minimum somewhere without a problem, but teams won't be knock each other over to get him. He is a loudmouth, unacheiver well on the wrong side of 30 with declining skills. See how well that has worked out for TO this offseason.

I don't know if anyone other than the Jets would be all that excited to pick him up and if they get Taylor and/or draft another OLB, he will become unneccessary.
