OT: Jets going after Jason Taylor HARD

So if Taylor is all but gone to the Jets then who will be out to grab AD?...The Jets won't sign BOTH and I don't see us keeping Mr. Locker Room cancer

LT ran out of gas 2 years ago.

LT has to run behind a pretty good Jets OL which will help him,the Chargers line was not as talented IMO,I think he will benefit from it although I am not saying 1,000 yards but he should have his share of carries and yards.

and of course there's the question of why, given his association with the NY Jets as an employee, that Jetdell even ruled on this issue...it should have and would have in any other sport, been ruled on by an INDEPENDENT ARBITRATOR, to dissuage any ideas of bias or collusion. The Omissioner ,of course, being the overbearing ,running amok despot he is, made a huge media splash putting himself at ground zero. Why would he do this, knowing he's going to be hated and reviled forever in New England, unless he doesn't care and has feelings of hatred and jealousy going back to his school boy days as a Long Island jock Jet fan, who took all his buddies to all the Jets games in the Meadowlands courtesy of his senator father's season box.

It has always stunk and his subsequent lenient decisions pertaining to both the Rats and the Giants shows a decided bias.

I hope to death they sign Taylor because that keeps my favorite player in the league from signing with them.

Now, nobody mock me.

BS. Mangini did plenty wrong. Including filming the opposing sidelines during the same game that he turned in the Patriots. Including filming from the sidelines during the previous play-offs.. Yet, the Jets bum chum Goodell decided not to punish them.

Also, I believe that Mangini tried to keep certain things that were Patriots property when he was leaving.

Not to mention the flight home after the denver playoff loss telling willie and branch and whoever listened to come and play for the Rats

===================================================

You see the whole Spygate thing and how it related to the Mangini and the Jets was at one time a mini obsession for me. And I still have a hard time when peopl blame Mangini.

I have never seen any evidence that shows that Mangini had anything to do with Spygate. If you have some evidence I would like to see it. I am not saying Mangini wasn't doing the same thing that the Pats and BB got fined for, just that he in my opinion never ratted any one out.

Very difficult to prove. It's certainly not as if Bill Belichick is going to drop his name. He just doesn't operate that way (and that's very admirable imo). But Mangini never came out and said he had nothing to do with it. And the biggest indicator to me is this. Robert and Jonathon Kraft keep a very open relation with past Patriot players and coaches. They will not as much as mention Mangini's name. I heard Jon get asked a question about him on the radio ...The question was have you talked to him recently. Jonathan's response was "next question".

Sometimes you don't need hard evidence to determine someones guilt.

he met somebody in the NFL offices the week of the opener with the Pats(reported by the NY Post)...the same offices where the commissioner has his..and Jetdell was also present that day...who did Ratgini meet with?...the concessions lady?...right after this "meeting with somebody", Ratdell comes out with his (in)famous "decision". Just a co-incidence...just like Ratdell getting his first break in the NFL courtesy of the NY Jets.

With all due respect Mr Joker I feel you make some good points, but none of that leads me to believe that Mangini did anything wrong.

Frankly it sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory.

What does make sense is that Tannebaum ratted or started the mess in the Meadowlands. And I don't fault Tannebaum for doing so.

Spygate was made a mountain out of a mole hill, still at the end of the day the Pats and BB brought it upon themselves.

As HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg recently said, "We have our Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg in Rex Ryan."

That's about right, they all could fit in him with room to spare.

I agree Mangini could of handled his departure from NE better, but the guy is a egomaniacal jerk.

The Jets knew about the filming during the Herm years well in advance of Mangini coming to NY, Herm waves at camera. It's not like Eric let the cat out of the bag, or took time during the game to call security to nab a Pats camera man.

Things went south in a hurry between the Pats and Mangini before he ever got out of Pat land, and Eric was a **** about things (trying to hire Pat coaches, later the tampering thing with Branch), but I still feel he broke no code.

What is Rex going to do with all that extra skin since he has gone lapband.

the Pats and BB brought it upon themselves.

the biggest fine and sanction in league history for ANYTHING? pretty rich minmizing coming from a Jets fan.

of course, kids in my family being assaulted and called cheaters, pushed around, humiliaited, taunted mercilessly and mocked for wearing a Pats shirt/cap to school...that's just a "mole hill" too, eh?

Just to clarify my stance I am saying that Pats brought it upon them selves because they are the ones who got caught violating the rules, ignorance of the rules is not an excuse and the fact that many if not most all other teams were also doing it does not change that.

The mountain and mole hill comment Was to say that I think the punishment and the whole scandal in general was ridiculous.

I am truly sorry for any assault's, taunting, mocking and humiliation that children in your family have suffered. It's just a friggen game.

Wow.. You'll make up excuses for just about anything won't you?

1) Mangini was just as guilty of taping from the sidelines as BB was.
2) Mangini was talking to players and coaches who were still under contract to the Patriots while on the Patriots TEAM PLANE about coming with him to his next position.
3) Mangini attempted to steal Patriots property and take it with him when he was leaving.

If you don't feel he broke a code then you are just being purposefully ignorant.

I've must have missed it in earlier posts, but I can't believe nobody is talking about how Jason Taylor may sign with a division rival. Remember when he said he couldn't do it last season? Now he's ready to sign with the Jets? I wanted Taylor last season but not now. The point is, he's an a**.

I apologise to the board for taking this thread off topic.

And I would agree I am ignorant about the coaches code.

No need to apologize, and keep posting away.

By the way.... Taylor vs. Brunell is an 'interesting' situation for the Jets.

Jets sure are going out of their way to sign names. It's probably a good move for them with the move into the new stadium on the back of an AFC Championship appearance. If they keep the perception that they are a good team, perhaps Jets people will come along and those PSL's will get sold.

Rex Ryan* will never win a ring with or without Jason Taylor.

The Chargers' line was fine. He ran well behind it in the past, and the other RBs on the roster ran fine behind it too. He's just no good anymore. Which I'm totally fine with: the Jets will give him the ball a fair amount, he'll be unable to get above 3.5 YPC, New York will turn on him in a matter of weeks, he'll sulk his way through the season because he's just classy like that, and Pats fans everywhere will love it.

IMO it will be more like the Favre experiment. LdT will do well enough sharing duties for the first half of the season. Around mid season he'll start to wear down. Unlike Favre who can play through injuries with the determination of a wounded Rhinoceros, LdT will get injured and start to suck. He'll pull himself out of games because, "It's the best thing for the team."
