Rams remove tension from draft, release Bulger

Why not wait until you get a signed contract with Bradford? You just give him (Bradford) more leverage and if you draft him without an agreement, you risk a protracted Jamarcus Russell-type holdout......

Great point. On the surface, it does seem like foolish negotiating posture, but I almost wonder if they have already reached an agreement on the framework on the deal.

I doubt it though. Seems too soon.

I don't necessarily think that Bradford is a done deal. They could do what SD did a few years back--trade down a couple of spots, take one of the DTs or Okung, and than pick a QB in the second. They'd probably get a second or a #1 next year for that trade-down. That team has a lot of holes.

That's the better way to go. I'd trade a 3rd for Colt Brennan, redskins 3rd string QB. Looked so good in preseason and has never got a chance.

I assume you're kidding.

The Rams will take Bradford but they traded for AJ Feely, they could go with him and a different young QB if they wanted to.

Colt Brennan for a #3 :bricks:

The SD 3rd string got 2nds swapped and a 2011 3rd. I've liked the kid since college, if they would accept a 4th then fine.

He'll probably be cut because he sucks. Lordy. They already have Feely who can actually play.

Feely's pretty mediocre and is 32. Sorry I'd take a risk and try out Colt Brennan. He doesn't suck, he got placed on the I.R last year because of a leg injury. He probably would've seen some playing time since Campbell was god awful.

Here's to hoping PF1996 starts a "Let's Pick Up Marc Bulger" thread.

I remember him having some good seasons. Do we......
he might have some gas left and could be a better backup than Hoyer....thoughts

The Rams have a way of being caring and tender towards their players...

Rosembloom and Rodriguez to Mark today in thier office...
"Uh,Mark we unfortunately no longer need your services and are releasing you today.....Oh,and by the way Mark,Happy Birthday!!

Yes,TODAY just happens to be Bulger's 33rd birthday....I wouldn't blow out the candles if I were you Mark.

That is pretty cold. 33, damn! Time marches on.

That was my first thought too.

Seriously, though, PF1996 hasn't been around here since September, and I can think of a few posters I'd MUCH rather see make a triumphant return than him.

I think the Bills will be calling Bulger....might work OK. up there,he is Brady's age so with the right system he may have some decent years left.

Rams making room for Tebow.

Being released from the Rams was the best birthday present he could ask for.

Mr. Bradford, try not to end up like David Carr and Joey Harrington.

Rams release Marc Bulger | ProFootballTalk.com
Unfortunately for Bradford the St Louis pass protection has an eerie resemblance to that of Carr's Texans offensive line.

Obviously nobody was going to trade for Bulger because of his $8.5 million contract, but unless he was due a roster bonus the timing is odd. If you cared about Bulger you cut him a month ago at the start of free agency. If you want to use him for leverage in either negotiations with Bradford, or with a team to trade the number one pick then you keep Bulger at least until draft day.
