Right; he threw the ball up and Smith would get it. They went 12-4 because they ran and ran the ball had a solid defense and played a easy schedule.
Ask any Panther fan and they are ALL HAPPY he is gone.

I'm not saying he is an excellent QB, I'm just pointing out that he had a very good 2008. He threw for over 3200 yards which is no mean feat, clearly DeAngelo Williams was a huge factor but Delhomme did his job very well too.

He was really bad last season but that doesn't mean he can't rebound and have a season like 2008 with the right people around him, and I'm talking coaching staff as well as personnel.

I can understand Panther fans being happy he is gone after last season, I'm juts pointing out that people are being over critical here.

I wish there were some way the Patriots could get Ratgini's 1 in 2011. . . .

I know zero football fans of any team who thinks he is a good QB but if you think he's ok...so be it.
As long as he's not on the Pats I don't care.

.
Yeah, Mangina, Watson, Furrey and Mohamed Massachussetts.

It's the what-have-you-done-for-me-lately syndrome. Fans loved him for years. He had two bad years and I can see getting rid of him, but no one was complaining when he got his two big contracts.

Yeah he really stunk in 2008.
Oh wait, wasn't he the starting QB on a team that want 12-4 and Steve Smith had 1400+ yards receiving. Who threw the ball to Smith?
I know he had a bad 2009 but he was excellent the year before, he hasn't been a complete failure.
People on here are going way ott with their remarks.

This is one of my favorite stats, the passing and reception distribution from Jake Delhomme's ONE Pro Bowl season, 2005:

Code:
Player Com	Att	%	Yds	TD	Int	Rate
Delhomme	269	435	60.2	3421	24	16	88.1

Player Rec	Yds	TD
[B][COLOR="Red"]Smith		103	1563	12[/COLOR][/B]
Foster 34	372	1
Proehl 25	441	4

Yes, that's Steve Smith, with over four times the receptions of the second receiver.

Cleveland better hope Joshua Cribbs is the next Steve Smith.

With the money the Panthers still owe him and what he'll be getting from the Browns, Delhomme will be making about $19.7 million in 2010.

Making him the highest paid player in the NFL next season.

He was bad last year and in the '08 playoff game, but before that he was always a good QB. Not an elite QB or anything, but he got the job done. Remember what he did to the Pats in SB 38. Over 300 yards and 3 TDs. He had a great game against a great D on the biggest stage possible. I don't think he has much left in the tank, and going to Cleveland won't help matters, but I do think he should get some credit for his accomplishments.
