Ahhhh now I see why we pulled out the Peppers/Boldin sweepstakes!

There was something bigger in the making

lol my ribs hurt from laughing

Re: Price: Pats want to bring back Le Kevin Smith

Sign the beast.

Re: Price: Pats want to bring back Le Kevin Smith

Come on people, enough with the sarcasm.

I actually liked Le Kevin when he was here. He started to come on late in 2008. While he obviously isn't being brought in to start, Jarvis Green is likely on the way out, and the Patriots need some depth along the defensive line.

To suggest that bringing in Le Kevin means that the Patriots won't be players this offseason is ridiculous. As much as you want impact guys like Peppers and Boldin, you also need solid players to fill out the roster, provide competition, and provide depth.

As frustrating as today has been, Le Kevin wouldn't be a bad pickup.

Problem is, Pats already have enough of the backup DL types: Wright, Pryor, Brace, Richard...They need someone who can be a solid starter at DE - Wright isn't that.

LeKevin Smith... Sign the Beast??

Re: Price: Pats want to bring back Le Kevin Smith

This was expected.

Letting LeKevin go was obviously a foolish mistake.

I never changed my sig and I always had faith that the Widowmaker would return.
You are the rock of our Gibraltar. :rocker:

Re: Price: Pats want to bring back Le Kevin Smith

Obviously if TBC came back and registered 10 sacks, the "Widowmaker" should come back 10 times stronger in his second tour of duty!

Yeah I agree with you 100%. As long as we're paying the minimum for this guy, I don't see the harm in bringing him back. Worst case scenario: he's your 7th/8th defensive lineman who doesn't make it past the final cut. Best case: he proves to be servicable enough, maybe after an injury, that he warrants a roster spot and maybe a few snaps in the rotation.

And I think that the Patriots might not need to bring in a starter if they can pick up a solid 5-tech in the draft, having him split time with Wright his rookie year. Maybe a Jared Odrick, or maybe someone like Arthur Jones, who's struggled with injuries, but fits at 3-4 end, even played some nose for Cuse.

Re: Price: Pats want to bring back Le Kevin Smith

Maybe, maybe not. Let it play out.

Well, that seems to be what the Pats are doing. Just letting things play out.

Re: Price: Pats want to bring back Le Kevin Smith

Well thats the practice squad sorted!

Every pats fan thinks the same way, some just dont like to hear it or see it in print since that makes them go into defense mode.

Right, I really don't have a problem with the deal if it happens - you need someone to fill that role on the roster. I just think that you have the exact same player in Darryl Richard. They gave Le Kevin 3 1/2 years.

Now this just completes the team. We are set, set I tell you.

I know...I just shudder at the thought of the beatings opposing QB's will be subjected to

Whats next? The Patriots resign Chad Jackson and Duane Starks? Enough with JAGS. We need quality players if we are going to compete for a superbowl.

Do you really expect to have 53 Superstars on the team? A successful team needs to have solid players, while not superstars, can fill in gaps and get the job done. I don't think a wall made just of bricks would be very strong, the morter in between is necessary which is one it's probably not very smart to gripe when the team picks up a Davis Patten or Le Kevin Smith (although he does have a silly name).

Re: Price: Pats want to bring back Le Kevin Smith

There we go! The impact free agent we've been hoping for! Super Bowl bound, baby!

Wow, WTG Krafty Bob, you are pulling out ALL the stops this year, first you resign 2 guys we had already, and now ya gonna bring home a real stallion....way to UPGRADE the team Krafty!!

There's something to what you say, but Richard? He's just a name on a piece of paper as far as I know. I'm hoping to get a good looking 3-4 end in the draft, there are a couple who might fill the role of Seymour, without being that kind of talent, obviously.

With Jarvis possibly on the way out, from what I read and Seymour gone, getting back a versatile backup with a good attitude for very little is a great deal IMO. It's building the foundation like this, that's made the Patriots consistent, not betting it all on big money free agents like Adalius.

Plug one more starter in and add Pryor, LeKevin and Wright and maybe Green and you've got something. Brace is a big slow project at one position. I wouldn't be surprised to see him stub his toe and go IR for a year now that Vince is locked up.

Re: Price: Pats want to bring back Le Kevin Smith

BTW, the resigning of TBC was a much better move than I predicted, since he went out on a failing note IMO. LeKevin was just the victim of numbers as far as I know, so we could look at Pryor and Brace while Seymour was still on the team and Wilfork's future was uncertain.

He's a 7th round pick - just like Le Kevin. Was on the PS all last season. Very intelligent, graduated and got his MBA in 4 years at GT.

I'm not doubting that, I'm just saying the Pats already have the same guy in Wright, Pryor, Brace, and Richard.
