The rest of the country confirms its stupidity

Yeah stupid choosing quarterback 1a or 1b in the league right now.

Manning is having the better year so he is going to get the votes. In 2007, Brady would have won this poll 90-10. If Brady takes off in the second half of the season and Manning stumbles, I am sure the poll will shift back in Brady's favor.

All you have to do is watch the media and watch how they shift back and forth on who is better and you will see the wishy-washy nature of this debate.

Its none of the above - its a lot simpler. The media portrays Manning as an easy-going lovable goof-ball (ironically, I doubt this is his true self, since he seems like an uptight pyscho jacka**) and they portray Brady as tough to relate to, part of an elite society with the supermodel wife.

The question is a popularity contest - do you expect the people signing onto ESPN to really think about who is the better QB? Hell no.

That's ******ed. It's precisely because Manning is having a better season.

Right, because Brady's 16TDs & 5 INTs is so different from Peyton Mannings 16TDs & 5 INTs...??

Their stats are virtually identical in every category except completion percentage, and I bet no more than 1/100 of the people filling in that poll could tell you their respective completion percentages.

Come on, people. They could've held this poll in December of 2007 and the results would be the same.

I'm disappointed in Connecticut. After all, it's part of New England.

No, but Manning's 8 wins are more impressive-sounding than Brady's 6 wins and two losses. Granted you can't pin that on Brady, but the non-NE fan hasn't actually watched the games, they just know the outcomes.

A large portion of CT are either Jets or Giants fans. Actually they are probably more common than Pats fans since a large portion of the people who work in NYC live in CT boarder towns. Plus people in the Hartford area may be still bitter about the whole stadium thing.

The difference between the two is indistinguishable. Yet outside of NE, Manning is preferred 3 to 1. It's a popularity contest.

The rest of the country likes Peyton Manning more than Tom Brady just as they like the Colts more than the Patriots or Tony Dungy more than Bill Belichick.

If Peyton had won 3 super bowls had the "evil" bill belichick as his coach, had a supermodel wife, and didn't do every commercial to come his way, Tom would win this in a landslide. The rest of the country is blinded by their jealousy and hatred for the Pats.

Connecticut sports fans can be some of the biggest sports traitors/front-runners in the world...they get to swap between Boston & NY teams as they see fit.

I can't argue about Dungy vs Belichick, but I'd like to think if people were choosing which QB they would want for their team, they'd go by their perception of skills. Maybe I give people too much credit.

Given their respective career winning percentages? Yes, it is stupid to choose Manning. This is from last season, but Brady was out, so nothing significant has changed:

Cold, Hard Football Facts.com: Winners and losers: QBs ranked by win percentage

Well, since Manning has made the post season 3 more years than Brady (Manning 9 and Brady 6, note that the years that Brady has actually played they are even at 6) and have half the wins (7 for Manning and 14 for Brady), would mean that at least in the postseason Brady is able to the win the big game far better than Manning.

Career? Don't talk to me about career. If people aren't convinced that Brady can still play at his old level after the injury, the past will stay in the past.

Don't talk to me about "old level". Brady's been better than Manning at winning games, especially of the "one and done" variety. That's the criteria.

Absolutely. There's no question that if you want to win a game, you choose Tom Brady over any other active quarterback. Most people don't vote based upon reasoned, rational thought, though. Hell, one look at our elections proves that convincingly.

Personally. I don't give a sh*t who is number #1. What I do care is winning the game first and heading into the post season with a great shot. Of all those "pollsters", I wonder how many are "Haters" anyway.
