I am leanin towards the sports hub.

Mornings - EEI Has a couple great guests like Boomer and Brady. Thats about where the EEI advantage ends. The rest of the political cheap shots, weak jokes and the "news" makes me want to vomit.

The morning with the sports hub is listenable at least, but I usually don't listen to the show.

Mid-day- I like Dale and Holly and I like Tanguary and Zo, I'll listen to whomever is talking more about football.

Afternoon - Big Show is a joke of unlistenable crap. Screaming, yelling, homerism, stupid callers and the whiner line. I barely can stand it, only redeeming quality is coffee with the coach.

Felger and Maz.....I like felger, he is a douchebag, but at least he accepts it. Interesting takes and supporting arguments.

Overall the Hub wins fairly cleary IMO.

I have NFL Radio and Moving the Chains is by FAR the greatest football radio show ever created. Those guys are amazing

As a WEEI PR guy, you know I am not spinning lies. I think my analysis in this thread has been very fair. Yes, Dakota from Braintree has become a significant part of the Big Show recently and he is only put on so Big O and the rest can ridicule his totally biased analysis. You must miss that when you are getting Fred's mink dry cleaned for him.

What??? Isn't this your first post? Looks to me that 'EEI is running a bit scared.

Real men don't follow MLB

Quite right. Imagine if football were like baseball?

1: Players wouldn't have to run plays they didn't like. The QB would call the play at the LOS and the WR would shake his head. He'd change it and the RB shakes his head. When everyone agrees they run the play.

2: There would be a special clear area in the facemask in front of the mouth to allow frequent spitting without the fear of hanging looeys.

3: After a successful offensive play the ball gets thrown around to each player so they can feel good about themselves even though they had nothing to do with the play.

4: Before throwing or catching a pass the player is granted time to adjust his gloves, helmet, cup, cleats, walk in circles, pose for the camera and must also spit.

5: If it rains too much everybody goes home because we all know how dangerous it is to play a sport in the rain.

6: Any player incurring a blister on his finger can take the rest of the game off.

7: It's perfectly acceptable for a coach to walk onto the field during a series of downs to talk to a player.

8: Each team must play a double header twice a year.

9: The AFC has a designated spy. The NFC doesn't. Their QBs have to do their own spying.

10: Players are allowed to start the game with a bloody sock to raise the national awareness of clotting agents, antibiotics and bandages.

In fairness, Dale and Holley will talk hockey. None of the other shows on WEEI will. Mike Adams doesn't even know there are other sports besides baseball. In fact, I don't know if he knows there are any other teams other than the Sox and Yankees.

I can't stand Mike Adams and am so glad for alternative sports radio at night now. Adams not only talks like a hormonal 14-year-old boy, he doesn't really know sports outside of baseball. Once I tuned in a while back and he didn't know which NFL teams were AFC and NFC, he was stumbling all over himself. It was pathetic.

Is your job to make WEEI look better or worse?

I once went from worse to Worcester.....

The polling has gotten closer. WEEI must have caught wind of it.

Seriously... if any of you EEI/HUB employees are lurking... chime in. We all know you read this forum.

Well since I have been called a Sports Hub employee, I'll play along. Felger is quite hurt that people call him a douche, but he said it to me in a really douchy way so F'him. Toucher and Rich would be hurt about people complaining about their frat boy style, but they are too hung over from last night's toga party. Tanguay is too full of himself to believe anyone doesn't like him.

It's real easy for me. The Hub talks more about the Pats and that makes the Hub the winner in my view. Sick and tired of WEEI red sox central. Not a baseball fan so that does it for me.

Because of this thread I tried to broaden my horizons and subjected myself to Toucher and Rich this morning. Tang and Zo were on their show and it was all about a (phoney) fued between the frat boys and Tang. Unlistenable. Never again.

*Raises hand* I enjoy T&R. I don't find sports talk radio station informative enough to consider listening to men argue inane points very valuable entertainment. I can find out everything I need to know about my favorite teams from the internet much more efficiently than listening to hosts and callers go on and on about topics that may or may not interest me. Therefore, the bits of creativity, comedy and entertainment that T&R put into their program hold more value to me than what someone like DA and certainly Mazz and Felger put forth.

I'll now step out of this subject since I must just be the wrong type of person to really understand sports talk radio. Honest admission: I really enjoy NPR... good current events there.

In the latest ratings book, The Sports Hub really are staring to gain ground and surpassed WEEI in some key demos. Here are some highlights from The Globe:

The Sports Hub climbed from 17th in the market in September to 12th in October, its overall share increasing from 2.5 to 3.6. But the truly spectacular progress came elsewhere. Consider:

The afternoon drive program “Felger and Massarotti’’ finished fourth in the 18-49 male demographic, edging the long-entrenched “The Big Show,’’ which was sixth.

?The Sports Hub’s cumulative audience - the number of listeners that tuned in during the ratings period for more than five minutes - was 780,100, up from 488,000 a month ago and actually surpassing WEEI’s 696,700 “cume’’ in October.

?In the coveted core demographic of men ages 25-54, The Sports Hub bounded from 12th in September all the way to third, increasing its listenership by nearly 50 percent as its share rose from 4.0 in September to 5.9 last month.

‘Hub’ is climbing the charts - The Boston Globe

First, i like that we have a choice in Boston Sports Radio.
The Hub came along at the perfect time and their affiliation with the Patriots, imo, sets them apart from WEEI who seems to be far too focused on baseball, probably due to their Red Sox connection.

More specifically, I used to like Mike Adams, but when it's football season he seems very reluctant to move away from baseball. Wanting to hear football talk, when the Hub had a Bruins game being broadcast, and on a Friday before a big Pats game, Mikey was talking about steroids in MLB!
That was very disappointing, and now The Hub is my first choice.
Damon Amendolara is very good, and doesn't fall into the crap that I feel like has dragged Planet Mikey into a distant second in the time slot.

Of course, like most, I cannot stand certain elements of The Big Show primarily Pete Sheppard who is the biggest blowhard on the airwaves.
I really like Michael Holley though.

Damon Amendolara is very good.

I wish that they could find a dynamic co-host and put him in a morning slot. Everytime I hear him, I like what he has to say....

You missed some cutting edge stuff by not hanging around for Felger and Mazz with Chris Fosberg discussing how Pats fans are a bunch of vaginas (Felger's characterization but the other two heartily agreed) because they bristle at criticism of the football franchise that's been to 4 Superbowls in 8 seasons...

Sadly when I hit the dial Weei was just taking a call from Jim the wrestling goon.

I think the real problem lies in the key demographic they're all chasing... morons.
