Re: Signs of the Trade-pocalypse: Official thread for speculation on WTF is going dow

We need to find 2 new players to fill Galloway and Mathews spots.

Tate and LeVoir could fill those spots if they are activated today.

Branch and Peppers!

Re: Deion Branch

NO....and NO!!! for both TO and Branch...NO!!

Re: Signs of the Trade-pocalypse: Official thread for speculation on WTF is going dow

Is it against the rules to be below 53 for any time during the year?

No, but considering how often Belichick has said that 53 and 45 really aren't enough, I'd be surprised if the Pats were below 53 for more than a day or two.

Tate and LeVoir. Matthews only value is as a blocking TE in 3 TE sets. Something an extra tackle like LeVoir can provide.

There will be no trades.

LeVoir might be one of the two. He needs time to get into game shape, but he can fill-in as a backup, if he's physically ready, and we do need a backup tackle. As a rookie, Tate probably needs some practice time before he fills a slot for us. The big question remains, however. Who is on the other end of the trade?

Re: Deion Branch? TO?

they will activate tate or nunn

Re: Deion Branch? TO?

I'd love him back as long as he was healthy and would accecpt a cap-friendly deal with low-risk to the Pats. I don't care about the 2006 misgivings. Biz is biz.

With that said, I don't think Branch is healthy nor do I think he'd take a pennies on the dollar deal to come back here.

My .02$

Looking around the net, EVERYBODY is trying to sort out what the heck BB & co. are up to. Fans of every weak team with a notable WR, RB or pass rusher are convinced that the Pats are clearing room for their guy. And of course, Florio is busing tossing out every possible scenario so that he can say afterward that he called it. Pretty amusing all around.

Personally, I think the veteran cuts are just BB's way of telling the team that Sunday's game, with yet another scoreless 4th quarter, isn't going to cut it.

Not to mention a costlydelay of game penalty.

Seriously, from a purely financial perspective they just saved about $20,000 on airfare to London.

Re: Deion Branch

What was your point in starting a whole new thread? There is already a thread on this topic?

And No thank you to Branch. And yes, I'd boo his sorry arse every time he touched the ball. He's a scumbag of a person.

I really don't get this, i suppose you would never persue higher wages in your job then? Sure the way he went about it wasn't great, but that hardly makes him a scumbag. Has he raped or murdered somebody?? No.

Re: Deion Branch

He edited it since his first thought and this threads original premise was trading for TO...

That was mentioned in another thread also...

Re: Signs of the Trade-pocalypse: Official thread for speculation on WTF is going dow

Perhaps BB is righting old wrongs. Cut Galloway, trade a draft pick to bring back Dave Thomas. The tight end (Dinkins) who got injured and prompted the Saints to trade for Thomas returned to practice last week, and Thomas hasn't done much (5G, 4 receptions, 52 yards). Dinkins is a much better blocker and Shockey is getting it done for the Saints, and for the Pats, Matthews has underwhelmed and Connolly didn't seem to add a bunch in the backfield. Maroney does better with a lead blocker, and like it or not, he's the main man for a while.

Yes, this is a wild guess, but it makes as much sense as any other names out there (although Stephen Jackson would sure make that offense scary.)

That cheapskate Kraft again!! :enranged:

Re: Signs of the Trade-pocalypse: Official thread for speculation on WTF is going dow

Steve Smith has been quiet in Carolina this season statistically. He could stretch the field opposite Moss nicely.

Very good player , but i am not sure how his "Special Temper" can fit in the PATS system.

Re: Signs of the Trade-pocalypse: Official thread for speculation on WTF is going dow

tow more names to throw around
reggie brown or kevin curtis. pats and eagles have been good trade partners.

Re: Signs of the Trade-pocalypse: Official thread for speculation on WTF is going dow

With the Bears adding Gaines Adams, I wonder if one of their other DEs (Mark Anderson) would be available. He's be a great addition to the Pass Rush for the Pats.

Another idea is possibly adding Patrick Kerney or Cory Redding from the Seahawks. The Seahawks season is in the tank. Especially with losing Tatupu.

But I don't see much else out there unless the Pats are able to get Kevin Carter to come out of retirement the way they did Seau.

Not sure what blocking you were watching, but Matthews did better than either Watson or Baker..

Nevertheless, he's been cut. Not sure two tight ends is enough for us. Do you expect him to be resigned and extended like Tully? Galloway's departure gives us the roster spot we need to land someone in a trade, so he didn't need to go. It's not as if there are substantial cap savings by cutting him.

I simply see Matthews as someone without much pass-catching ability at TE, and it's an extra receiving threat for which we're looking. If we really need a blocker, we can bring in a lineman. It's not like a TE with zero receptions is adding much in teh deception department.

Re: Deion Branch

Yeah, I know TO is a locker room cancer, he will not work out for us but who says I cannot day dream

TO and Moss split wide, Welker and Mini-Me in the slot, man this offence would be sick. Try defending that
