Name 5 and 5 for yesterday's game, Please remember that this is just a matter of opinion.........

5 That I liked:

1- Julian Edelman: Wow, nice surprise here, no Welker yet, it did look like day 1 of Welker's clone's life though.
2- Brandon Meriweather: Getting the job done, another day at the office.
3- Our D-Line in the 1st half: All I kept seeing were 3 and out for the Jets offence, especially in the beginning, they controlled the crowd and pace, good job.
4- Our O-line in the 2nd half: No sacks allowed, for a full blitzing D, that is pretty darn good, nice improvement over the previous game.
5- Stephen Gostkowski and Chris Hanson: Another day at the job for our 2 kickers, I laughed when Hamburger Rex decided to make Hanson re kick 15 yards deeper, I guess he hasnt studied much tape.

Honorable mention: Fred Taylor: Did his job 8 for 46 for 5.8 avg.

5 That I didnt:

1- Gary Guyton: Too many missed tackles, or maybe it was just Leon, a lot of 1-2 yd plays turned into 7-8 yd plays, seemed like he was floating around at times, low awareness.
2- Joey Galloway: Too many dropped passes, out of synch routes, played more like a rookie than a veteran.
3- Delay of Game calls: Especially in the 2nd half, what the heck was that? Even the kicking team got one, I hope BB will blast someone this week.
4- Our D-Line in the 2nd half: From a great 1st half to a miserable 2nd one.
5- Stephen Neal: A lot of penetration was coming from the inside right, maybe it was from that beast Jenkins.

I'd like to see Adalius Thomas take charge of that inexperienced LB corps too because we are getting killed there, as well as for Tom Brady to stop pointing straight to the middle of the field every play, liked it better when he points to the right and left too!

These are just my thoughts.

Agree that Meriweather and Gostkowski did well. Hanson had a few good punts, but he also had one terrible punt.

Guyton, Galloway, and the o-line didn't do well at all. And I hate to say it, but Brady had a lousy game.

I hate to rip on one player, but Guyton was both run and thrown at throughout the game, and the Pats paid the price.

Liked:

1. Edelman - almost 100 yards in his first game
2. Guyton - 7 tackles, 3 assists
3. Bodden - Cotchery and Stuckey were nonfactors except for Merriweather's missed tackle.
4. Taylor - Give him or Faulk or law fim the ball - it's time for Maroney to sit
5. McGowan - 5 tackles in part time play.

Disliked:

1. Brady - bad game, especially missing Edelman in the endzone.
2. Maroney
3. the offensive line
4. the entire coaching staff

I wouldn't put Guyton in the negative category. We still held the Jets to 3.8 ypc and he led us in tackles and didn't make any glaring mistakes

6 Player I liked:
-Fred Taylor: He ran hard against a tough defense. Also saw him truck Rhodes which is a thumbs up

-Julian Edelman: Had a few mistakes but hes a converted player who still learning the plays and lining up properly

-Mike Wright: Early strip/sack was nice and then had a deflection that should've been picked by Thomas.

-Brandon McGowan: He was physical and attacked the ball carrier. Had a few nice hits and played extensively as a in the box safety or a LB/S hybrid. He did give up the TD to Keller but he just needed a LITTLE more depth in coverage and he would've been set.

-Vince Wilfork: Bunch of tackles..forced ball carriers away from him. He also caused few penalties on Woody I believe. Proved why he is the captain and 1 of the best at his position

-Stephen Gost: Just another day for him..he kicked well. Enough said. I had to make a 6th spot for him

5 Players that needed work:
-Jonathan Wilhite: He gave up some catches but big ones. He allowed Cotchery for that big 1 and then him and McGowan were a little off in the zone coverage on the TD to Keller. Also almost allowed Stuckey to get the TD but he didn't get both feet in. Also didn't look like he wanted to come up and tackle besides that screen at one point because I saw him stand there watching instead of sticking his nose in on some plays and also on a KR by Washington he put in a poor effort to tackle him as Leon ran past him

-Joey Galloway: Few drops..not much production. Was targeted a lot but didn't make much of it.

-Tom Brady: Yes he was pressured...a lot but he misfired a quite a few passes and didn't get in rhythm with his WRs. Of course it's not all his fault because the blame goes to the whole offense

-Coaching staff: We were out coached. Belichick said it himself. We didn't have many answers for the heavy pressure and the second half defensive meltdown was terrible..mostly the opening drive of the 2nd half.

-Derrick Burgess: Non-existent it seemed...his statline: 1 assisted tackle. We need more out of him especially in the 4-3 as he is supposed to be our best pass rusher

Guyton played very well, IMO. Especially for being out of position. It's not like the Jets were able to move the ball very effectively on the ground.

The Jets ran for 3.8 YPC. What on earth are you talking about?

The Pats were running at 4.2 YPC; good thing they only ran the ball 20 times.

Good lord. What, exactly, did Maroney do wrong yesterday?

Showed up?

Some guys are looking for a scapegoat. I guess his 3.8 average (I think) isn't enough to cut it.

how bout the turnstile that is Matt Light.

Tough to judge when you only give the guy 6 carries.

I don't live in the NE area, so I didn't get to watch the Jets game, but I reviewed the Buffalo game last week and focused on the o-line for a lot of plays. On a number of plays when Light slide stepped to his left, he lifted his left foot way too high--sometimes a foot or more off the ground. This is a lot of wasted motion, and also throws his balance off. My guess is that this may be caused by a hip or knee injury.

Anyone else notice this?

Players that played well:

1)Wilhite, he's been pretty good in coverage, and that TD was on McGowan, not him
2)Guyton vs. the run, had a decent day
3)Edelman, this kid is going to be a beast!
4)Banta-Cain, provided decent pressure against a good o-line
5)Meriweather, I've been impressed with his leadership and he's all over the field

Players that need improvement:

1)Brady was pathetic, gave up on Moss after 1 bad play and his mechanics were way off
2)O-line, specifically Stephen Neal
3)Joey Galloway, needs to work on being clutch
4)Guyton vs. the pass, he seemed to over pursue the run fakes
5)Burgess...where was he?

On one of the Jets' FG drives, I remember them running the ball straight up the gut - right at Guyton - and having considerable success. Perhaps over the course of the game - especially w/ the first half defensive performance - the stats aren't as bad as I thought.

I can also recall several pass plays where the Jets appeared to hone in on Guyton, and threw either right in front of him or just over his reach.

I forgot to add Mike Wright to the list of people I thought played well.

Good:
Meriweather
Taylor
Edelman
Warren
TBC

Bad:
Brady
Wilhite
Guyton
Burgess
Kaczur

-Brandon McGowan: He was physical and attacked the ball carrier. Had a few nice hits and played extensively as a in the box safety or a LB/S hybrid. He did give up the TD to Keller but he just needed a LITTLE more depth in coverage and he would've been set.

I am almost positive McGowan didn't give up the TD, as he was playing closer to the line, watching the run/TE. It seemed to be that he has close, early coverage and that Wilhite didn't cover Keller properly. It was Wilhite who was a step or 2 to Keller's right and looked lost on the play. Although there was obvious mis-communication between Wilhite and McGowan, it seemed from watching the replays/DVR that it was indeed, Wilhite's guy.

Wilhite seems to be the obvious weak link of the secondary, and was continuously picked on, as he probably will be all year.

1. Warren-10 tackles and a key sack near the end of the game
2. Edelman-did his best welker impression
3. Wilhite-why couldn' BB bench Deltha earlier last year?
4. Wilfork-stuffed the run and forced the fumble at the beginning of the game
5. Taylor-too bad we didn't use him more

the offensive calls werent bad at all, brady played poorly and line had some mistakes...woulda like to have seen a few hb slipscreens tho...galloway, brady, neal, kaczur, koppen, aiken, wilhite(good and bad) and springs stood out with multiple mistakes...if anyone to blame its brady or oline on occasion...o brien did fine...would like to c dean pees get more aggressive at times but overall defense played well.. tuff game to win when brady doesnt throw at least one touchdown...jets secondary is solid...o and btw i thought that kaczur was real good guys!?, where r u kaczur, light, and wilhite lovers now?

What worries me most is that this was Sanchez, a ROOK with not too many receivers but decent O-Line, last week it was Edwards (Worst QB I've ever seen I think, except for last week).....So anyhow, nothing to be really proud of if we kept the scores low, a real test for our defence will come when we play higher scoring offences........I do trust our secondary more than that LB corps though, they are the ones that worry me the most from the entire team.

Well, I got a thread started last week about Light and I gotta say he did better but not much. He was CONSTANTLY tricked by the delay blitz and this single handedly caused most of Brady's problems. If you watch the game again watch him look at his block who would FAKE dropping into coverage and Light would turn to help Mankins on the dbl team only to have HIS guy then have a CLEAN rush at Brady's blindside. #1-Light
#2-Guyton. Its no secret where are weakness is, and if you are the leading tackler that does not mean you had the best day. As a middle backer you are supposed to lead the team, you are not supposed to be blocked into next week and make that tackle 6-8 yards downfield. He didnt get much help from the other backers..He did a good job shadowing Washington...even when he was blocking.
#3-Thomas. Now I dont know why he isnt wearing the Green dot as a 3 down LB, shoot I dont know why he isnt playing MLB. He is bigger and more physical than Guyton and Guyton is obviously faster. Too many times Thomas is jogging to the point of attack standing straight up. He isnt playing with the edge he has in the past.
#4-Brady. I dont know why ANYONE left him off their list. One or 2 decent passes and we are still fighting off the nitwits talking about the undefeated season! He missed Edleman on a EASY 2yd TD on the 2nd(?)FG, he missed again on another. He hasnt thrown a jump ball to Moss at all.
#5-Moss/Galloway-The recievers are not working in unison, there is no communication the way there was with Welker and Gaff last year. Moss has never laid out for a ball and I cant remember the last jump ball he won(maybe thats why they dont throw em anymore?). Galloway's frustration is showing, and that is uncharacteristic of a BB team. But when both are outplayed by a 7th rd rookie QB/WR....nuff said, now the good.

#1-Obviously Edleman. If he can handle the slot it may free Welker up to get a chance at Galloway's spot or go deep while still having a slot checkdown. Its one game, but its nice having a suitable backup for Welker as that is a special position in our offense.
#2-OL running game. Its not their fault the coaching pulled the plug on it. It should have been easier to run against those overloads than pass if they measured the blocks. There was no 6 man line, lol, and of all the times we could have used it! Faulk did almost nothing but block every down, why not see that and adjust with a 6 man line or extra TEs?? Why leave it up to the little guy? I digress, sorry.
#3-Gost. This is mostly for his fumble recovery last week but he did all the scoring so he HAD to make the good list.
#4-Wilfork/Warren/Wright did have a real nice game. Thats a real big OL the Jets have, and they have some talent there.
#5-Faulk/ballboy of your choice. I had a hard time thinking about a 5th guy. Faulk was busy all night keeping Brady from getting KILLED. He deflected alot of shots and couldnt get away for any draws or screens....but Brady can walk away so he did his job. Tempted to add a DB but it was against a rookie QB who wasnt very accurate. Bottom line, no INTs= no great plays= no playmakers. Bottom line.

Why isn't anyone naming Moss as a disapointment? Is he paid to be only a decoy these days?

I do not understand the Maroney bashers. At All.
