I would think it would be beyond cool to see Bon Jovi as the singing act,especially if Jon's good buddy Belichick is on the sidelines

Bon Jovi is my choice - Any other good suggestions for wholesome 'Family' type musicians that Goodell desires instead of seeing Janet Jacksons tit?

Wow, that's... not a good list. I'm a DMB fan, but that doesn't fit with football at all. Out of that list, Bon Jovi would be the best choice, definitely.

Can't see the older people at the SB liking the beat of Maiden or Dio - Although those 2 groups are not so bad - Metallica would be best of that type of music if you ask me.

I think Skynyrd would also be good, but knowing what Goodell thinks about the impression of the NFL,I would not be surprised to see a reunion of the Partridge Family singing there

Another good one would be Peter Frampton,I am seeing him in concert locally in 2 weeks and no one alive plays guitar better then him.

The recent formula for selection of the Super Bowl halftime show has been to go with an act that would be at least familiar to the largest number of people possible, and also cause the fewest number of people to be upset or want to change the channel. This lowest common denominator approach results in names that were big about twenty five years ago: Prince, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen.

I would guess that the NFL would go the same route again; most likely candidates would be the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac or Bon Jovi. Jimmy Buffet is a definite possibility with the game being played in Miami.

On the other hand there does seem to be a little bit more grumbling each year about booking older acts who are no longer relevant. With that in mind there's an outside chance that the NFL might hire a band that has been around long enough to be a familiar name but who has a younger audience than the groups above; someone like the Dave Matthews Band might fit this criteria if that is the direction they want to head in.

I'm not saying any of these are my choice, I'm just thinking that these would be the NFL's most likely choice. Like everything else they do it's about ratings for their network business partners. To them the question is what band will generate the most (net) viewers; that is, who will attract the most viewers while at the same time turn away the fewest viewers?

Springsteen is the man and always will be. I used to be okay with Tom Petty, but Free Falling is one of my least favorite songs on the planet now. Bad memories. It totally cancelled out how awesome U2's "Beautiful Day" became in 2001...

At first I thought Gloria Estefan might be another logical choice for the local angle, but I figured becoming a part owner would automatically exclude her. Welll,Actually I would rather see The Miami Sound Machine perform at the SB then see the Dolphins play in their home stadium for the SB.

But the odds are against that happening,I think the stadium where the SB is being played has never had the home team play in it - Thats 0-43 - Looks bad for the fish's chances
