Chris Price: Caserio's draft talk

Great stuff I agree...I wish I could have gone...

Excellant work, that breakdown of the pre-draft process for the team was great to see.

Pretty clear they were not fixated on Butler as reported. Kept backing down even though they didn't believe he'd last to where they were retreating to... Until in the end value and opportunity converged at a point where they couldn't say no.

great stuff, Chris! Thanks for being our eyes and ears.

Was going to post this myself, but you all beat me to it. It was a TERRIFIC event -- very illuminating on a lot of levels, particularly the whole pre-draft evaluation process, as well as their thoughts on Chung and Butler. If they ever have another one, I highly recommend it. And, as an added bonus, I got to meet some other patsfans.com posters. Good times all around!

I've said before that I think they liked Butler but were happy with Hobbs, Springs, Wheatley, Bodden, Wilhite. But then Butler dropped and they had to take him. Then they were stuck with :

- Trade someone now
- Wait to see if an injury happens in camp
- Keep 6 CB

And they chose the first option by trading Hobbs.

I may well be wrong but that's how I see the Hobbs trade, they re-evaluated the situation once an unexpectedly good thing happened on Day One.

Sounds like a really cool experience thanks for the summary!

I live in Foxboro and mentioned in a few other threads on this topic that I was there last night. I am also fortunate to have attended similar events in the past with BB and with Scout Jonathon Robinson.

And one thing really stood out to me......These guys are all on the same page. They sound alike and they duck questions alike.

I was there as well....great time, good talk by Nick. I swear BB speaks through all coaches and players.

Got to meet Chris, keep up the great work Chris, we appreciate it. We also met SMY. I got a chance to say hello to Mike Reiss as well.

Best of all met Pats1 - he looks just a tad younger than the 60 year old that I imagined!!!
