I'm a little disappointed that we didn't take Oher, but overall I'm pretty pleased with the draft. Looks like Rodney's career with the Pats is essentially over, and I look forward to seeing Chung and Butler develop into stalwarts in the secondary. along with Meriweather and Wheatley. That's a lot of talent in the secondary right now...

The days of Dante camp are gone. We could check but several of the last few OL's picked by the patriots after the 4th didn't end up on our Practice Squad, and if they did they didn't stay long. Maybe these two are raw enough to stay. Yates was on the Practive Squad but we paid him roster pay.

Why do you think they will be playing somewhere else?? The may not be ready now...and another team may not pick them up...so??? Just curious..

Going 3-7 makes this day reallllllly loooooooong.

So now we have two Practice Squad guards for camp that we can train to play somewhere else.

What you are witnessing now is the reincarnation of the 2007 draft.

I agree. I don't like this new format all that much. I wonder why they thought this format was better? I didn't think that anything was wrong with the old format.

Jimke, i hope not. Only Meriweather is 'in'

ciao, Italian Pat

the sanchez ballwashing continues ..he is going to be on NFLN now..

All three offensive linemen drafted were off the carts of the draft experts

and none of them made the Patriots.

choosen at 5, 6 and 7 round

In the end, I'm fine if none of the players past the fourth round have any chance to make the team. It just means that we have a great team. Six additions plus two 2010 #2's is plenty for one draft.

Perhaps the best chance for these picks is indeed a Practice Squad players who isn't good enough to play anywhere this year, a 2010 prospect for the patriots.

However, what message do the picks after the 4th give to Gutierrez, Thomas, Green-Ellis and Hanson. It SEEMS that there were players who might compete with them for a roster spot. And it SEEMS that there were those at OG who might have competed with Yates.

What you are witnessing now is the reincarnation of the 2007 draft.

I don't condemn the entire draft, just the last couple of picks.

Condemning them is silly. There's less than a 10% success rate when you get down into the 6th and 7th rounds.

i'm sure about it - and i respect you as one of my favourite fans-posters here on this board

Agreed- even on the west coast, this kinda sucks

I have no problem with that in theory. If they are all around solid 6th round picks they aren't making the team anyway. Why not go with upside, which I'm assumption they were after.

Draft "experts" really called this draft BTW.

it will be interesting also to see how many rookies will make the final roster

They have the biggest audience in the first two rounds as that when player people have heard of go. They wanted to move that into primetime for the casual draft watcher. Those watchers eyes glaze over after round 2 and usual tune out 3-7. The hard core watchers watch whenever so they sluff it over onto Sunday early.

There is also safety in numbers. If you need one guard, draft

two in case one is a dud.
