I really think it's unfair to call Jackson a bust. I really think had he not gotten injured on special teams in the AFCCG, he would have turned out to be a good player once he matured. That injury really wrecked his career. When he returned kicks in 2007, he was really stiff in and out of his cuts.

Just as a footnote, I believe that #16 pick wound up being Juian Peterson (NY traded #16 to the 49ers.)

Belichick, true to form, still wound up getting the best college football player in Michigan that year.

I would have thought Jackson, but at least Jackson had a TD in the Jets and Vikings games. Starks was just awful.

Interesting to note that she considers neither the Moss or Welker trade to be the best, nor the Chad Jackson trade to be the worst.

Well, she considered them to be the best players traded for, hard to argue that getting BB wasnt a bigger deal.

The Chad Jackson trade looks pretty damn when accounting for all factors of the trade, especially the fact that Green Bay also selected a wide receiver with the pick they got from New England. Of course, their receiver was rising star Greg Jennings, and yet we traded up to get Chad 'bust' Jackson.

The following trade deserves honorable mention for how it looked at the time:

In 2003

Patriots get: 2003 second round pick 40, 2004 first round pick

Ravens get: 2003 first round pick 19 (used for Kyle Boller)

This trade is not as well recognized because of who it obtained (Eugene Wilson and Vince Wilfork), BUT from a pure trade perspective this was GENIUS. Think about it, the Pats made the trade fully understanding that Baltimore wanted Boller. So the Patriots got a 2004 first round draft pick from a team that would be starting a rookie quarterback. It looked like stealing candy from a baby.

it says a lot about how good BB and SP have been together when one of the worst trades they every made was giveing up only a 4 round pick to trade up to get Bethel Johnson a guy who was a realy good kick returnen and helped win a super bowl wow

In 1985 the SF 49's traded their 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the patriots' 1st and 3rd to move up to draft Jerry Rice. The patriots drafted Trevor Matich, Ben Thomas and Audrey McMillan.

This is considered the #1 worst trade in NFL draft history.

The best and worst of Patriots draft trades

Interesting to note that she considers neither the Moss or Welker trade to be the best, nor the Chad Jackson trade to be the worst.
