If this article is to be believed, something has to give at some point. It paints a very grim picture of Carolina's cap situation:

The Panthers are so strapped that after signing journeyman fullback Nehemiah Broughton in January, they released him earlier this month because a few players had bonus money due that put them over the $127 million cap.

If Peppers ends up staying with Carolina, the Panthers would have to extend Delhomme or make moves with other players just to have enough cap space to sign their five draft picks and shore up other areas.

Losing Hangartner and Omiyale left the Panthers without depth on the offensive line. After releasing starting cornerback Ken Lucas to clear cap space, the Panthers need a No. 3 cornerback behind Chris Gamble and likely new starter Richard Marshall. Carolina needs help on the defensive line, too.

The draft also won't have as much impact. The Panthers also don't have a first-round pick after trading it to Philadelphia last year to draft right tackle Jeff Otah.

Still, the budget is tight. Consider veteran Jason Kyle has been Carolina's long-snapper since 2001. Right now, the Panthers don't have the cap space to re-sign him, either.

I know there is a lot of talk about Peppers staying with Carolina, but his tender seems to really be screwing them. They have very little wiggle room, so it seems like dealing Peppers almost has to happen. The guy wants out, he is screwing their cap and they need draft picks to fill holes.

Granted, that doesn't mean the Pats would be in a situation to make it happen, but if Carolina keeps Peppers on the roster they will be limited in improving their team in any other way. I think the Eagles make the most sense, given their large amount of cap room, extra draft picks and that Peppers would be a huge upgrade over Juqua Parker.

Nope, not true.

There were occasional talks about 'the unlikelihood' about Moss becoming a Patriot. But it sure as hell wasn't every day. And it wasn't for 2 yrs either. The boards (for our team and our players) weren't littered with reports day in and day out about another teams player--who hasn't even signed his tender and wants tons of money to 'become another position' because he feels like it.

The only other time you can even compare it to was maybe Ty Law, and he belonged to no one.

When people start talking about what Bill Belichick told his neice about obtaining someone who we can't even afford anyway--it's become too much. Like the brightest coach in all of sports is going to ask his freaking neice her opinion about obtaining another teams player, yeah right.

And what would happen with Wilfork or Seymour if Peppers were brought in? At least one would surely be gone. Unless you think they would sign 3 players to high priced deals when they're having trouble signing 1.

I don't want him, I don't care if he was good, is good, or whatever. I think he's bad for the 'team-first' philosophy, and don't feel he would resolve any kind of problems they are having with the other 2 they really need to sign. If they are going to break the bank, then at least do it for someone who's given their all as a Patriot, not as a Panther.

And if you're trying to tell me the story about Moss coming here broke more than a day or 2 earlier, you're absolutely wrong.
