Am I wrong in being fearful of a Peppers signing?

this draft for us is going to be so ******* sexy!:singing:

Although BB's yearly trades of first and second rounders for earlier picks the following year is a great strategic move long term (especially with some of the crappy teams he has done this to)...................I would love to see us make and hit on all of our first 5 picks and have a stud rookie class this year. OLB, S, OL, DL, OL

Yes, as would I. It will be interesting to see what BB thinks of their chances of making the 53 man roster will be, as that will certainly come into play of what he does with the picks. We don't want a repeat of the '07 draft class--although it didn't have any bearing on our season

Another one! O.K. You are obviously very smart as well sir....I apologize because I have not the answer to this question and I asked if anyone could explain. I did not do so with malice or indignation....I don't get it. Is this some double secret information that is so obvious my stupidity overwhelms men of your superior intellect?

Not so far fetched actually if carolina is your team. If i am carolina fan for a minute i will not take anything less. pepper is a physical freak and is a dynamic player.
i want something back which will hold the defensive line and anchor it for a few year for such a high priced player if you think some draft pick is going to do this you are wrong , carolina is not in a purge and rebuild mode.anything less if i was a carolina fan i will want FO head with the HC too for being patriot fans.
It is far fetched and preposterous. Why would the Patriots trade their franchise 3-4 nose tackle for a defensive end/potential outside linebacker? 2 gap players do not grow on trees and given the current situation with many teams switching to 3-4 defenses, this is a baffling move.

Further more, given the limited readiness of a franchise tackle available through the draft at the Patriots first pick (which we don't know if there will or won't be) this move won't happen.

The underlining factor is that I don't care what stage the Carolina Panthers are in, the Patriots will do what is best for the Patriots. What's best for the Patriots is not trading away a franchise tackle for a defensive end/potential outside linebacker hybrid.

The onset of Madden gaming mentality really does give rise to strange suggestions.

There is still a chance that that will change.
How do you figure that? Owners already opted out. Won't be a cap unless owners and union agree to new CBA. Can't have a CBA unless they agree to have one. That took two years and went to the brink last time when all parties wanted a CBA. Now neither owners or union wants one, and even if they did, the union doesn't even have a leader to negotiate the deal, and the guy who gets elected chief of the union will not be the guy who promises the players that their salary will be capped next year.

Maroney was paid a signing bonus. That signing bonus was prorated (the cap hit was... he got all the cash immediately) over the length of his contract. The cap hit for that signing bonus is 1.1M per year of the contract left. They have to pay that whether or not hes on the team.

His salary is 600K. He has a 100K workout bonus.

1.1M + 600K + 100K = 1.7X M cap hit (I'm rounding here).

If the Pats cut/trade him, next years signing bonus cap hit gets accelerated to this year, so they save 600K in salary, but have to pay an additional 1.1M in cap space becase of the accelerate bonus.

Thank you very much sir. I appreciate that. I understand. Very informative....unlike some of the lovely posters here who fancy themselves after TV heroes and are in fact pseudo intellectuals.

I just can't wrap my mind around how we could ever re-sign our key players (wilfork, mankins, etc) if we sign Peppers to a deal that will inevitably be costly.

Am I missing something? If we resign Bodden (if all goes well), re-sign wilfork, re-sign mankins, gost, big sey, and then we can consider light, neal, and others. How in the world could we afford Peppers?

I want to be excited about the possible (I intentionally omit "likely") signing, but I am in fact scared by it. Can you convince me otherwise?

We don't have the cap space for Peppers now that we signed Springs, Bodden, etc.

Don't sweat it. I remember before the Cassel trade just browsing some other team forums. And some of the idiots there were saying they'd take Cassel for a 4th round pick. There are some football fans who are irrational when it comes to overvaluing their own players and undervaluing others.

Man up cousin... Many have attempted to explain things to you in the 2 years you've been here. It's not nuclear physics, Miguel's cap pages are referred to here multiple time a day.

The worst is when he makes incorrect statements as fact when the correct information is a click away, then postures to make everyone else seem like condescending a&&holes.

I'd just prefer never to read a post of his again. Is there an ignore feature? Oh wait there it is right under "User CP" yet another one click.

Hey I don't know all the answers. Never said I did. I ask questions and listen to garbage for answers. I try to learn. There are people who post that think they are experts and great posters, well that is great for them. They shout everybody down. I guess that qualifies. I am an easy target. I am not a CAP guy. Is this manning up? I do not study them. I appreciate your politeness in this case though.

Appears I have a Bingo on this one Kyack! ....Sorry, I guess that was uncalled for on my part.

If you read what I said "about saving CAP space by moving Maroney $2.5m I believe". you would understand that this was not a technical conference upon the issues of the CAP. It was an off hand comment tempered with a disclaimer. Yes please omit me from your little list...Thank you for your kind and knowledgeable comments. Good day sir. Note: Please read through things if you want to torture me. At least Jack reads my stuff before he gives me my due medicine.
