Re: Sanders Signs

The Patriots have agreed to terms with safety James Sanders on a three-year contract.

Sanders turned down more money elsewhere to return to the Patriots, according to a league source.

More on this to come.

This is the first dividend from the Cassel trade.

re: Reiss: James Sanders Signs

Ok, going back over the list:

RB: Check
TE: Check
S: Check, but only partially. More is needed
WR: Still a need
LB: Still a need
CB: Still a need
LS: Still a need
FB: ?
OL: I still want my LT

And many thanks to Mr. Sanders for not jumping for the highest dollar.

Hmmmm.... now do we put backup QB on the list, or just figure that'll hash itself out after the draft?

thats great news indeed. Sanders is a great backup

re: Reiss: James Sanders Signs

Goody gum drops. I'm ready for new stuff. The Cassel trade feels like it happened 2 weeks ago. I'm ready to move on. Welcome back James Sanders!

re: Reiss: James Sanders Signs

Good to see him back. I would much rather have someone else in the starting spot but Sanders isn't a bad start.

re: Reiss: James Sanders Signs

OK.

This means that the Patriots don't need[/q] to draft a safety, and are unlikely to tap a free agent now.
However, Sanders-Meriweather is average, at best.
The Pats will likely look at safeties in the second and third round of the draft.

In terms of free agents, Sanders was considered middle of the pack, but obviously is one of the youngest free agents available. Hopefully one of the cheaper solutions too.

re: Reiss: James Sanders Signs

Good news.

re: Reiss: James Sanders Signs

good to hear him come back. he's solid. you don't have to worry about him the majority of the time being out of position. this allows us to concentrate on LB and pass rushers which will make the secondary that much better.

re: Reiss: James Sanders Signs

That's breaking news. Changes up my mock a little bit.

re: Reiss: James Sanders Signs

solid player; good

i dont mind having him as a backup at safety, but as a starter hes below league average. i hope we can find an impact safety in FA or in the draft

Are you suggesting that sanders took less money for a backup contract ? and thanks for once again reminding us how dumb the FO is.

I would say TE is still a need and you have to add long snapper to the list.

Re: Reiss: James Sanders Signs

Good to have him back, an upgrade is still needed imo.

Re: Reiss: James Sanders Signs

What is the buzz on Tank Williams recovery? He seems to be a forgotten entity at safety ....

I don't agree with the need of a TE. We don't use them that much and with already 4 on the board we don't really need one.
Long Snapper a definite need though
Very good news this.

Ahhh.... I had LS on there and deleted it by mistake. I'll try to fix it if it's not too late. But for tight end, they've got about 5 of them now. I know that's not enough for BB, but this year's class sucks.
