I wonder who's the guy we'll all cut on our mock rosters...

...who'll end up being crucial to the team next year?

The obvious one was Cassel this year. Could it be Slater? Tank Williams?

Slater's my guess. Pick a carry-over from this year who should have done something and didn't, but you still believe in.

*Needs to have played most of the season.

Deltha O Neal? is he still under contract or was it a one year deal I dont remember...

Seems to me it was one of those one-year prove-it deals. I would say he didn't make the requirements, sadly.

Dave Thomas. I mean, if he's going to do anything, this has to be the year, right?

Too many good options in front of Thomas for him to make an impact I believe.

Not everyone had Cassel being cut from the roster. Just a majority.

As for Slater, why do you believe that he didn't do anything? He only was second on the team in special teams tackles behind Izzo.

I could see Jarvis Green maybe being cut. He's a good player, but will be receiving kind of a steep salary for what he does.

No chance of that in a million years. Jarvis Green plays a big role on this team. Plus BB obviously puts a huge value on the defensive line. Seymour is an injury question, the cap goes up, and we're in decent shape. No way. Jarvis Green is very underrated.

I might be wrong here, but I don't think that Green is the one who replaces Seymour if he gets hurt- I think that's Wright. They play different roles; Green is a pass rush specialist.

When Seymour was out last year, it was Green who took his place. Wright was replacing Warren this year.

Green showed that he is more than just a pass rush specialist last year as he held his own when Seymour was injured.

Maybe you're right. I just think Green is very valuable to the team adn I want to keep him for awhile.

I have to disagree with the previous three posters about Jarvis Green. While it would be surprising to see him cut, I don't see him providing the same impact he once displayed a few season ago. In fact, the guy has pretty much disapeared since the 2004 season. Along with Willie G, he used to be that guy that would get that game changing sack when the defense really needed it. I just don't see that anymore.

I'll say Kaczur if we draft a first round OT. 1.2 million savings. Everyone else on the roster is not worth cutting for the amount saved

Me too, don't get me wrong. I don't want to see him cut, but if I had to take a stab at who might be one of those surprise cuts that nobody really sees coming, that would be it. He's good, but his production can be replaced at less than the $5M price tag that he's carrying around these days.

WhiZa's right on the money too, I hadn't thought of Kaczur. I don't think he'll be cut, for continuity's sake, but if Belichick decides to make upgrading the OL a priority (and he certainly might, since Brady might not get his mobility in the pocket back for a while), Kazcur and Neal could be in danger of losing their starter spots.

Green is a solid fill-in player when someone else goes down. The overall quality of the defense does not suffer much when Green has to play. But Green is pretty far removed from his last big play that I can remember (a strip sack late in a game in Cincy, '06 or '07), and I think Mike Wright has equaled the production of Green over the last 2 years. Ideally, I'd love to have the luxury of keeping both, but it probably does not make sense to keep Green at $5 million on the cap, especially given the money that will at least temporarily have to be put into the quarterback position.

Vrabel unless he takes a pay cut

I don't think Jarvis Green will be a guy who gets cut on all the mock rosters. If he is going to be cut it will be long before camp.

I agree with all those who talk about him being a valuable reserve. I just wonder if his value in that role equals his cap # of over 5 million, the 6th highest on the roster.

There are ways the Pats and Green can come together to deal with Green's cap number but if they don't, I would not be surprised to see Green let go to save on cap space.

You guys are crazy.
Jarvis Green Rocks!
Seriously.
