People forget this.

Why do we all watch football? For entertainment. Has there been a more entertaining team than the Patriots for the last decade?

Not even close.

Amen. Less than 10 years ago, all I wanted was for the Pats to finish better than .500. That was a consistent goal with this franchise. Even this past season, missing the playoffs, they won 11 games and made at least two more competitive, exciting games to watch.

In 2009, the Patriots will have Belichick at coach, probably Brady at QB, and a bunch of up-and-coming players who will improve as the season goes along. At the very least, as DV pointed out, it will be entertaining.

Of course I want them to win the Super Bowl. But we've got to stop worrying about the hump-filled media or troglodyte-ridden fan bases of other teams and just revel in having a solid, consistent team year after year.

Yeah, I'm sure we're all happy for Matt for the fortune he Matt earned this year. That kid has heart. Who knows, maybe he'll be back again next year. Although that would probably be a bad sign, I guess.

I knew right away it was one of those "for all the negative Nancy" fans threads, I'm used to seeing them on my board. But seeing it on this board made me laugh so hard.

In 2005, the Dynasty "died" because of key injuries to key personnel. In 2006, the Dynasty "died" because of the mighty up and coming Dolphins led by Daunte Culpepper. In 2007, the Dynasty "died" because we let to many "key" personnel go. In 2008, the Dynasty "died" because we were aging on defense. In 2009, the Dynasty is "dead" because we've lost Scott Pioli and Josh McDaniels.

Now, let's see how those turned out...

2005 - Playoff appearance.

2006 - Playoff appearance.

2007 - Super Bowl appearance.

2008 - 11-5, missed playoffs because of tiebreaker which had not been seen in DECADES... WITH back-up quarterback.

2009 - ? Who knows what the future holds? Hopefully it's something good.
