i mean seriously...Moss is that good, so just do it...

all cassel has to do is wait for moss to get 40 yds down the field, turn around, and then have cassel throw it close to moss...

i think Moss would be completely and utterly capable of jumping up and catching the damn ball over ANY defender in this league if he positions himself right...

at the very least hell smack it down for an incompletion...

its the NFL, but not everything has to be rocket science...a little simplicity sometimes goes a long way...

i think this play would be unstopable...at least until opposing teams start bringing 3 db's to cover moss...which opens up the game....

Re: why dont we do the culpepper?

Except he's already facing that exact same situation the entire season. All teams have to do to slow our offense is just bring over safety help on Moss. The Jets and Dolphins did it almost to perfection.

There is a reason why he retired, nobody want's him.
Miami let him go and they had nothing at QB...Bad mstake to sign Culpepper IMO.

Let me be a bit of a smartass while at the same time throwing a bone to/at the likes of Briz* and JoeSixPat....

If this team had Chad Jackson or Donte Stallworth, they could send another deep threat out there and take the pressure off of Moss!**

*I opposed the team's cutting Jackson, I just think that the Jackson ship has sailed.

**Facts such as Jackson still being unemployed and Stallworth yet to play a game this season being pesky details and therefore irrelevant, of course.

I believe he is asking for prayer bombs to a covered Moss, not to sign Culpepper. "Do the Culpepper", not "sign the Culpepper".

Teams have been scheming to take Moss out of games since the 2nd half of last year, but there are always plays where he gets open deep. The O-Line however needs to give our QB some time to find him deep, otherwise we cannot even attempt to "do the Culpepper".

Re: why dont we do the culpepper?

Another Culpepper thread? - Give it up

I don't think he's saying to bring Culpepper in. Hence the use of "Cassel" in his post.

I think this new guy, Price, is a budget-friendly Stallworth. Sounds a little more sure-headed than Jackson. Guess we'll see if he survives a few practices. After learning more about Troy Brown this week, you pretty much can't write off any signing the team makes. And did I read right they signed him for two years? Does that mean anything, though?

I've literally never heard of Price before we signed him.

Except he also has special teams ability (Washington is injured). Might not be much more than that.

It's been said but bears repeating: Price isn't likely to make a big difference on the offensive side of the ball. The key to improving both our offense and defense is improved play at the line of scrimmage. That's where it all starts, and until that happens, NO receiver is going to make a difference (besides maybe a Moss, but we already have him )

I don't disagree with that, I think the signing is predicated on the assumption that the O-Line is going to step up their game and that we need another deep threat. Now we find out if he can be legit in that role in practice. We're stocked up on STs.

Perhaps, perhaps not - they already had Slater and Aiken and Ventrone for Gunner/Wing duties, not to mention Wilhite and Wheatley. We also must consider, was Special Teams the problem through the first three games? I'd say no, with maybe the exception of Hanson's inability to directional kick or pooch a change-up.

What we know (more or less):
- Price was a productive WR in college.
- Chiefs kept Price for Special Teams (he's willing to do whatever he's asked).
- Chiefs have QB/WR issues.
- The kid's scouting report from his draft compared him to Donte' Stallworth.
- The Pats used Stallworth for RAC production off short routes vice deep threat - a change of pace from his previous clubs.
- The Pats are limiting Cassel to short routes ala 2001 dink & dunk.
- Price's draft scouting report gave him a "thumbs up" for his RAC abilities.
- There are two weeks of practices for the test drive.
- At worst he gets cut, at the minimum he plays STs, at best...we get really entertained.

The thing is Culpepper was able to run around in the backfield and was so big, he could avoid the sack to allow Moss to run down field. Cassel isn't nearly as mobile or big and he doesn't have Brady's instincts (at least not yet) to step up in the pocket at the right time. Unless the o-line improves quite a bit, Cassel would get sacked and pressured too much to do this.
