Will Tyms see the field?

As far as Tyms goes, I really do hope that he gets a shot to show his stuff in a live game setting.

My concern is that the coaching staff currently places Edelman, Amendola, LaFell, and Dobson ahead of him---so I have a hard time envisioning him getting the active designation.

The minute we get an injury though, he'll likely be in the mix.

I'm not expecting a lot of play time if he is active for tomorrows game, but I personally don't think it's that far off to see him catch a bomb tomorrow. If he is in there, they will try to get the ball to him a couple times IMO.

I definitely agree. I just think that it may take an injury to get him active, that's all.

I really do hope that he gets a chance. It's just that usually either (or sometimes both) one of Thompkins/Dobson was inactive in every game. We just don't have a need for 5 active receivers, along with 3 active TEs; especially when you take into account the number of OL, QB, and RB.

Sit Amendola bring in Tyms. Won't be any less production and could be an improvement.

Mark Daniels reporting Tyms is the first player out there for the Pats on the practice field. I don't yet know if he will be great or not, but he sure seems to have the drive. Seems like something the team needs.

I posted this in the game thread, but it deserves to go here:

I have to say I thought Tyms would never have made the final 53 man roster when he got off suspension. I was wrong. I am surprised he is activated. Good for him. Hopefully, he will continue to prove me wrong and turn into a viable receiving weapon for Brady.

Me as well, Rob--on both accounts. I wish him the best in his opportunity, starting today.

I never thought he'd make the roster though. Then again, we assumed that Kenbrell Thompkins would still be here.

Patriots have been dreadful with the long passing game and need to make Bills defend more than 20 yards of the field. Dobson and Tyms look like the best chances for that. Tyms in particular seems to have the ability to go get 50:50 balls. Haven't seen that in any of our other WRs.

Yeah, that's exactly how I feel... Even if Tyms isn't super productive, even just connecting on one or two completions over 25 yards will really force the defense to account for it, and will open things up for everybody.

Finally get to see him play today!

I love you Tyms, it was good to see him prove all the haters/doubters wrong!!!!!

Please do not post this photo shopped video.
We at Patsfans know that Brady is in decline and cannot throw a pass over 50 yds in the air.
Plus, as early posts on this thread confirm, Tyms sucks because he did it in preseason against "guys that are now bagging groceries" (how moronic is that, as if guys cut from the NFL would actually be reduced to that type of employment), and as Vulger and Spazz claim, TYms is a Jimmy G. guy and, thus, Brady hates him. What pure, unadulterated BS.

Looks like the step up from grocery bagger to NFL defensive back is shockingly small. Newfound respect for Gurt at the local supermarket.

Actually, they do end up working at grocery stores. Just ask Kurt Warner.

Happy with what he did, but lets not call him Randy Moss just yet.

I will definitely say I'm happy we have a guy like Tyms to run those routes instead of putting Slater into that role as we've done in recent history. I don't think he'll be a huge contributor in the box score, but I do think that he'll give the defense something to think about when he's on the field. His presence may be cause for the defense to play more cautiously if he can make a few more big plays to get noticed.

**** that. I'm usually reserved when considering a player but Tyms performed all through the preseason and his first crack at the big time with the Patriots, he puts up a highlights reel package. I'm all in. Hopefully Dobson joins the party soon and all of a sudden, Edelman, Dobson, LaFell and Tyms looks like a dynamic group.

There is enough game film on Tyms already make d-coordinators think about how to defend him on the home run ball.

It was popular to dismiss his preseason here on PatsFan, but it's pretty obvious that the way he went up and got the ball was enough to catch Bill Belichick's attention. Two deep balls to him was clearly a part of the game plan in his first regular season game.
