You gotta be kidding me, 4:15 for Patriots-Vikings on Halloween.

Damnit, I have 2 young kids that love Halloween!

Sorry, just realized this. It's worse than attending a wedding where at least you can have some drinks at the bar with the tube on.

On base here they do trick or treating from 6-8pm. I think I am just going to record the second half of the game and try and block out any football I happen to see while out. Or, hopefully, it's going the way of the Bengals game at the half and I don't worry about missing some of it.

They just have to fix the calendar so that Sunday never falls on the 31st. :)

My husband once had an important 4-day conference to attend that was brilliantly scheduled to run through Halloween. There was a mass revolt by the parents of young kids. Taking your kids trick-or-treating is one of the pure joys of parenthood, can't miss it for anything.

Foxboro actually DID move Halloween to saturday night because of this game. They didn't want to have to worry about all those kids on the streets and traffic from the game coming through the neighborhoods.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the "Trick or Treat" part of Halloween moved to the closest saturday each year. As a parent, it makes all sorts of sense.

This is a pretty solid idea. Getting them home from school, dressed up, rushing them to eat a dinner they want no part of, and then getting to where ever the trick or treating is going to happen just sucks.

I know, personally, my fondest Halloween memories are the ones that took place on Saturdays.

I thought the thread was going to be about the nightmare the last time we played on Halloween in 04 and the winning streak ended in beat down fashion. I'll be out with the kids too but I'll just DVR it and do my best not to know the score when I get home.

When I first read this I thought it would be a hoot if we showed up at people's doors on Saturday and explained we wanted our candy now because Dad is a football fan.

Then I learned that Foxboro is doing Halloween on Saturday.

I am in the same boat. It gets dark around 6:30 so I will take my kids out then. I am just going to bring a radio with me so I can hear the game.

Don't you have a wife/sibling/parent/friend/cousin who can handle this for you while you attend to the REAL priority (Patriots football)?

Same problem here. I actually gave up my tickets to the game because my kids are football orphans every Sunday (my 7 year old twins were actually on the verge of tears last year because their November birthday was on a Sunday), and I decided that I couldn't screw them out of trick-or-treating. Hopefully the Football Gods will smile on my sacrifice and give us a win. :)

Not to bring up bad memories, but the Pats played on Halloween in that Pittsburgh game, in 2004 was it? The Pats stunk up the joint and I remember each house in the neighborhood had the game on as I went around with the kids, and each time I asked, the news was worse and worse. I was actually glad I missed most of that game! Hopefully this year as I troll around with my goblins we'll be getting treats, not tricks, from the houses we visit where the game is on (and I will be shamelessly ogling from the front porch).

Typically Halloween requires two adults with responsiblities. One to take the kids; one to hand out candy at home.

Best bet -- be the candy giver, set up the TV right by the door (or even outside if the weather is decent) and put the bucket of candy next to you

According to my kids, my husband is a "stinky" trick-or-treater. He only likes to go to a few houses, complains about all the candy and the dental bills, and then asks who wants to go home. It was like that for me as a kid. My dad would go all over the place, wherever we wanted, but Mom got bored after a few houses and wanted to go home. You have to get the right parent for these things!!

    I do.

But, that's just not gonna fly. For obvious reasons.

There you go - make lemonade. All the other Pats Fan parents in the neighborhood will thank you too, as they can check the score!

I posted my tickets for the Vikings game on Ticketexchange this morning. Hate to miss that game, but the kids come first of course.

Amazing demand for that game by the way. I looked at the available tickets before selling mine and there were 0 available. Mine sold less than a minute after posting.

Better yet, dress in full Patriots regalia, preferably with helmet, and be right in the swing of both at once!
