I think the point here is that when Bill Belichick feels a player is good enough to start for him and 'a bunch of people on this forum have been saying for a long time he stinks' that I would put more faith in the opinion of Bill Belichick for many reasons. They start with him having a more comprehensive set of facts. The concept that it is his job to grade this player on film evaluating everything he does, vs a fan watching the game and deciding who they think suck is one. The idea that he knows the player and works with him on a daily basis is another. The fact that he has also done film study to evaluate the other options is another.
When you add to the fact that he has much more information to base his judgment on and much better skill in reaching one (although I think there are some posters on this forum that actually think they are a better judge of football talent than BB
) you would have to think his judgment is a more sound one that the fans, even if they have a huge consensus among them.
That doesn't mean that BB is always right. I can picks stocks based upon a cursory study using my less than perfect knowledge of the market, and sometimes I will do better than a professional market analyst, but I don't think you would pass up his advice to take mine.
