Re: NFL.com: Raiders agree to send WR Moss to Patriots [merged]

The idea of Moss and Brown on the same team is like a Twilight Zone episode. Should be fun. I'm worried about Troy's spot on the team, now. Maybe he'll retire at this point.

Re: NFL.com: Raiders agree to send WR Moss to Patriots [merged]

Maybe to early to cut Jackson? Maybe PUP for next year?
I think the kid can still play and has too much talent to give up on so quickly. Stallworth and Washington "could" be one year deals.

you ABSOLUTELY do not cut Jackson. if anything he goes on the IR with an ingrown toe nail

Re: NFL.com: Raiders agree to send WR Moss to Patriots [merged]

Absolutely. The good news is that he doesn't have to be the Moss of old. If he can pull in 700-800 yards and attract away some of the defense's attention, that is a STEAL for a 4th-round pick.

I compare this move to the move we made for Ted Washington in 2003. We gave up a fourth to get Washington to be a run down specialist. I think we are bringing in Moss to be more of a deep threat specialist. I don't know if he is an every down WR for this team.

Im very very very stunned.. I dont know what to say....

Re: NFL.com: Raiders agree to send WR Moss to Patriots [merged]

This is a peculiar move considering the Pats offense and overstock of WRs.

I think RM's behaviour problems have been exaggerated (he's more like a kid with "ADD" than a Pacman case). My only concerns with this trade are how Moss fits into the Pats' offense (the deep ball hasn't been one of Brady's best attributes) and the impact of his prior injuries/age on his play. It would be a heck of a trade if Moss pans out (especially if he can go for more than 2 years) and not too difficult a cost if Moss doesn't pan out.

I agree, I was responding to some who said he would be cut.

Re: Moss here for a 4th:Official

Do i like it? No I don't like it. I love it. A fourth round pick in a draft that Belichick has shown open disdain for, trading picks left and right to avoid taking a player who can't make the team for one of the best receivers in the NFL? And he would only restructure to come here, which shows that he knows what he has to do up here, and that his sh*t won't fly on this team. The absolute worst case scenario is that Moss is cut, and we lose a fourth rounder (and we still have another one anyway). Best case scenario? Oh man, I don't even want to jinx it. I love this move.

Round 1 - Merriweather
Round 2 - Welker
Round 4- Moss

Yea, nice draft so far.

Re: NFL.com: Raiders agree to send WR Moss to Patriots [merged]

Do they deal one of their surplus receivers for more picks next year?

Re: Moss here for a 4th:Official

so, does this mean we don't draft Chansi Stuckey or David Ball?

Re: NFL.com: Raiders agree to send WR Moss to Patriots [merged]

So many personalities on this team.

So many WR's on this team.

I guess Troy Brown has three options: retire, become an assistant coach, or go to another team.

I'm just kinda scared that the players will start believing their own hype with all of these offseason moves.

Re: NFL.com: Raiders agree to send WR Moss to Patriots

Schefter said Moss agreed to dramatically reduce his salary to make the deal happen. He also said that Kraft and Brady signed off on this deal before it was made.

Well...it's not anything I ever would have done, but if it's OK with Tommy and Bob it's OK with me. And given the terms of the deal - not financial or draft compensation but as Shefter just articulated the understanding that if he so much as frowns he's a street FA - I guess I can live with it. :D

I would think as TC approaches that would now become a distinct possibility.

My problems with his attitude is effort. Moss has a long history of taking plays off even in the NFC Championship game. His comments about not going to try if no one else does last year, scares me.

The Pats have one of the most complicated playbooks in the NFL and Moss comes from systems where he had some really basic routes to run. I wonder how hard he will work to learn theplaybook and understand the presnap reads.

i think im going to be sick.

Re: NFL.com: Raiders agree to send WR Moss to Patriots [merged]

Per Mortensen, Moss is running 4.29-4.3 seconds in the 40 this offseason in Boca.

Re: NFL.com: Raiders agree to send WR Moss to Patriots [merged]

Moss timed at 4.29-4.30 this offseason by the Pats per Mortensen.

Troy and Randy have no relationship to each other as far as roster spots. Troy is a 5th or 6th WR and return and secondary depth and veteran leadership for a pretty ecclectic WR corps.
