They had me running kickoffs back and on defense they tried me at corner and safety also, but I wasnt that good. Thats a special skill set. In the air I could never figure out where the ball was, lol
Could you reprint some of your stories or maybe start a thread and talk about some of the players and experiences you worked on / enjoyed?
It actually sounds like a winner of an idea to me. I'll be ironic and wear my Woodhead jersey (6'4" 220).
I went to high school with Freddie Smerlas, who was a dominant high schooler obviously and later went on to have a great NFL career. Maybe even more impressive, however, was that in high school he decided to take up wrestling to stay in shape in the off season and became an All American. I saw him pin larger guys in under 10 seconds time and time again. Guy was a beast.
Me? I never played past Pop Warner.
I read Freddie's book, "By a Nose". He talked a lot about how wrestling helped his development and career as a dominant NT.
