Mikey must have consulted Borges when writing this today, same old same old crap...what sticks out is that he at least gave the coaching staff an A-, but gave Brady a B...does his the Pats F'ed up the Asante situation of course...make sure you tune into the 3-6 ESPN radio slot, after all that is what is all about anyways...the ratings rule, not common sense.

I don't disagree with his grades...the offseason is done...prove it to us on the field guys...especially the wide receivers.

Does anyone else think that this part is misleading? (Capitalized words mine):

So Sey is injured, but Moss just stayed away by choice?

What's misleading is that each of those categories (injuries, absences, holdouts, drug suspensions) was an isolated incident, but Felger uses the plural to create the impression of widespread problems. The truth about this hack is that the "borges" role doesn't really suit him. He's a deadhead, airhead, lax with the facts individual who is pretending to be a hard-nosed, bareknuckles reporter, a sheep in wolf's clothing. He is doing this to create a public identity in a competitive climate. The role of "Borges" is now vacant in the Boston media. Not sure how long Felger can sustain the charade before the Spicoli in his brain tells him, "Give it up, dude, just go with the flow, man, it's not worth the hassle."

If he's basing it on the ENTIRE pre-season, I agree with his grading.

I know the most annoying part is the smug vitriol he includes in his assessments, but that's his M.O..

Overall, his assessment is right on the money grade wise.

The thing of it is, Felger seems like a perfectly smart reasonable person in general, but this Pats-bashing is really getting old.

I'm not looking for reporters to just print the press releases coming out of the Patriots PR department; I like to see some analysis; I like the media to have a critical eye.

But Felger just doesn't seem to like this team. He doesn't seem to enjoy covering the Patriots so why do we have to listen to him?

Not that I need anyone to help get my excited about this team, but I'd much rather listen to the opinions of people who are enthusiastic or at least give off the impression that they want the Pats to do well!

IMO, the Herald is getting rid of the wrong guy. They should send Felger to Texas instead of Breer.

Felger is just trying to make headlines, chances are those grades he gave out he didn't see half those players even play.

This is the essense of Felger these days. You agree with the grades but say "huh?" at the conculsions and snide commentary.

If you take out the snark, and just look at the grades, a normal person would conclude it's going to be a great great year. Instead, Felger starts from a media invented straw man.

He's become that parent of the honor student, the type that when she brings home a 97 on a test, starts obsessing about the 3 missed questions, and how she'll never get into Harvard if she can't even get THAT one right.

Anyone on this forum who thinks the Pats did a good job in the Asante

Samuel negotiations is dead wrong. The Pats took a hard stance and

then capitulated at the last moment. If they weren't willing to stand

firm, they should have gotten him to camp on time.

Last year they didn't hold their ground with Deion Branch. To get

negotiations started, they permitted him to have other teams bid for

his services. The Jets offered Deion the contract he wanted within a few

days. What resulted was a labor grievance which resulted in a trade

to Seattle. Why did they let him seek out bids and not hold firm?
