I was watching your epic clash tonight, and a thought popped into my head. I know Vince Young isn't playing well at the moment, but is there any team in the league other than the Pats and colts that matches up as well against either team as the Titans? I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out.
We've played the colts close every time the last four or five matchups. We're first in the league against the run. We pressure the quarterback with just the front four. We play the colts twice a year, so we know how to do to the pats and colts exactly as the colts did today, which is play zone, keep them in front of you, try to pick a pass or two off, and get after the QB. In the preseason we absolutely killed Brady with just our front four, to the point where after the game the pats were even commenting on the pressure. On offense if Vince doesn't turn the ball over we're as committed to running the football as anyone and we're pretty good at playing keepaway. And we have the face stomping monstrosity that is Albert Haynesworth in the middle to blow things up in the backfield, and Vince even if he's not playing well is capable of making one or two crazy plays a game with his feet. I know the AFC representative in the Super Bowl is 99% going to be the colts or pats, but is there any team that has more of a chance of keeping that from being the AFCC game than us? The chargers and Steelers both have to blitz to get pressure, and I don't like the matchup of their corners one on one vs either set of receivers. Can the Browns really win a shootout with either team? I don't think so, and noone else jumps out at me.
Anyway, congratulations on the great game, both teams were impressive. I'm just trying to figure out an endgame where maybe things don't end up with that seemingly inevitable matchup in the championship game. It would help if Vince would stop pressing and start running again. He's trying to prove to everyone he can pass and chucking the ball into double coverage when he has tons of room to run.
