I was watching your epic clash tonight, and a thought popped into my head. I know Vince Young isn't playing well at the moment, but is there any team in the league other than the Pats and colts that matches up as well against either team as the Titans? I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out.

We've played the colts close every time the last four or five matchups. We're first in the league against the run. We pressure the quarterback with just the front four. We play the colts twice a year, so we know how to do to the pats and colts exactly as the colts did today, which is play zone, keep them in front of you, try to pick a pass or two off, and get after the QB. In the preseason we absolutely killed Brady with just our front four, to the point where after the game the pats were even commenting on the pressure. On offense if Vince doesn't turn the ball over we're as committed to running the football as anyone and we're pretty good at playing keepaway. And we have the face stomping monstrosity that is Albert Haynesworth in the middle to blow things up in the backfield, and Vince even if he's not playing well is capable of making one or two crazy plays a game with his feet. I know the AFC representative in the Super Bowl is 99% going to be the colts or pats, but is there any team that has more of a chance of keeping that from being the AFCC game than us? The chargers and Steelers both have to blitz to get pressure, and I don't like the matchup of their corners one on one vs either set of receivers. Can the Browns really win a shootout with either team? I don't think so, and noone else jumps out at me.

Anyway, congratulations on the great game, both teams were impressive. I'm just trying to figure out an endgame where maybe things don't end up with that seemingly inevitable matchup in the championship game. It would help if Vince would stop pressing and start running again. He's trying to prove to everyone he can pass and chucking the ball into double coverage when he has tons of room to run.

The Titans are a year or so away from becoming serious contenders IMO.

Once your team adds a quality WR or 2 to compliment Young's talent then your team will be a force to reckon with.

Remember the Madden cover curse has no deadline and the season is still only 1/2 way done so hold your breath on VY's health remaining good ;)

I agree, we're not a contender this year. I'm just looking at who in the AFC could possibly derail a rematch in the championship game. Most people would probably say the Steelers or Chargers, but I think the Titans are the only team with the front four to stop the run and pressure the QB without bringing a safety up or blitzing, and we always run the ball. The colts did a pretty good job against you today on D, and our front four is quite a bit better than theirs. Edge rushers is probably equal and they don't have anyone remotely close to Haynesworth or Brown on the inside, plus our second level doesn't have to make tackles, because our Dline makes all the stops in the run game. Our MLB is only averaging 3 tackles a game, and our second leading tackler is a DT.

Anyway, just food for thought. It's going to be awfully boring if we're all just sitting around waiting for the colts/pats rematch the rest of the year. Congratulations on your win.

I like Vince Young, the guy just wins. Then again I have always admired the Titans. I still think the toughest game we have had in our run was the 2003 Divisional Game against the Titans. They are just a tough physical team every year. The Colts never scared me but I knew the Titans would give us a helluva fight.

We're winning despite Vince right now. Last year he was loose, taking chances, running around and tiring the defense out. This year he is pressing. He's trying to do the stupid thing, which is prove he is a pocket QB. But he's not. The thing that makes him special is his running ability, and two or three times a game this year he is choosing to force the ball instead of picking up 7-10 yards and moving the chains. Both his picks today were on plays where he didn't have to throw the ball. After the second one he went to the sideline and looked like a broken man. Something needs to happen to bring back his confidence, which is something I never thought would be a problem.

He has to add being a viable pocket passer to his skill set if he is going to be a successful NFL quarterback. Your model should be the early Daunte Culpepper, not Michael Vick.

Wow,

just wow. Umm, yea the titans pressured the pats in preseason.

And the pats got you guys in a head lock, and continued to punch you in the nose like over and over for the whole freak'n game! What frick'n preseason game did you watch? Talk about cherry pickin your favorite parts. Dude, your team walked away from that game with looks on their faces that said "we thought we were in their class, but we obviously are not."

Your qb is not very smart. He is possibly the best athlete in the game, no exageration. But he will never be smart enough to win with anything but his brawn. And in this league, that ain't enough. Get upset if you want. Your foundation will provide exciting games, but will always crack when you are up against teams that can game plan around such natural talent and force your qb to make decisions.

Against good teams, the mistakes Young makes get turned into points. Against bad ones, he gets another chance.

The Colts and the Patriots are good teams who would make Young pay for any bad passes he throws.

Watch out for that iceberg buddy.:bricks:

"But, but, but, our band still kept playin, so maybe we are as good as you guys right??"

What a tool.

Nice iceberg reference!;)

If the nickname for the Patriots is the Pats...what's the one for the Titans?

If the Titans had a QB that didn't suck, they would be up there with the Steelers. And yes, Vince Young sucks. To say otherwise is to ignore facts.

If Indy loses next week to San Diego (could happen) they will be tied with the Titans, provided the Titans win. Can you imaging Indy as a road playoff team. Ah, the smell of victory.

"Hey, Hey, over here......we're in Tennessee and no one is paying attention to us. We need attention!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
_____________-

.....which you will get in the Visitor's Lockerroom.

If Lendale loses a few pounds and you add a few WR's check back with us next year. I do love your defense though very young and fast and they are missing Pac Man who is a great player when he stays out of the strip clubs.

You're a couple years away at best. The Steelers would woop your a s s. Vince Young caught everyone off guard last year, but teams are preparing to play him now. I have a strong believe he always going to be an inconsistent guy capable of winning any given week or disappearing. LenDale White is a time bomb waiting to blow. You're not ready to be a contender.
