This is the defense Belichick has chosen to deploy this year. Every week the top tacklers have been the safeties and cornerbacks. Perhaps with Mayo back this will change ... but this is what Belichick has chosen. Clogs up the line ... LBer's cover the TE's and RB's and he makes the teams try to beat us with their WR's.
Once the offense gets on track I think we'll be fine. Anything +21 gives us a great chance to win each week and we should be doing that with little problem. We should be at least 4-1 so I would say it's working and it will get even better.
No disrespect, but have you been watching the same games I've been watching? I think the Patriots are lucky to be 3-2.

Let's face it, with Tom Brady and Randy Moss's salaries on the other side of the ball it's very unlikely you're going to have a dominant defense.
Yes I have been ... every year I've been here I've been saying the defense takes 6-8 weeks to develop. considering all the turnover I think they have done a good job. It's not a defense loaded with talent ... it'a a blue collar group. If the offense was doing it's job ... yes ... we would be 4-1 ... no doubt in my mind. At 3-2 we are not in bad shape at all.
Brian Baldinger is a thinking man's Mark Schlereth...which in now way is a compliment of any kind.
I think that's a copout. The Giants have $100 million tied up into one player on offense and have still managed to put out a top three defense for three years in a row. Right now they're at number one.

Speaking of Schlereth, I've noticed he's been more than fair regarding the Pats lately...dare I say, even complimentary at times. My theory is that he can't criticize the Pats or BB anymore without it reflecting on his beloved Broncos since McD is the HC there now. Whatever the reason, it's kinda freaking me out, really.
If the offense was clicking like we know it can then the Pats would easily be 5-0. I can think of about 11 points that they could've had on the Jets if Brady had been like his old-self. But I agree, the defense needs 6-8 weeks to gel and have a few playmakers steppin' up. If they stay healthy, my early money would be on Mcgowan, Mayo, Bodden amd Merriweather by week 14.
