Realistic for Edelman to play in playoffs?

Although there's this study about jones fractures in nfl players and it shows that the timetable to return is closer to 10 weeks.

For some reason, this fact seems to have been ignored since day one, most likely due to one mediot's opinionated timeframe that other mediots simply re-tweeted.

The normal timeframe suggested by experienced sports physicians and PTs was always somewhere between 8-12 weeks (with the hope that the surgically implanted screw could help to expedite the situation while increasing blood flow to the area), while the media kept reporting 6-8 weeks.

The recovery time is listed at 6-8 weeks. He'll get 8 weeks. What else you going to do?

He'll actually get 9 weeks between games. Like you said, after that there's nothing else we can do but hope that he holds up and produces enough to get to the SB. If he can go for just 2 games, we'll have enough bye week at the end of the month as well. ;)

I'd be shocked if he isn't ready and near or at 100%. He's already been back at practice for 3 weeks today. By the first playoff game, he'll have been back more .than 5 weeks
I agree. Our first playoff game puts him at 9-10 weeks of recovery.

All these posts and not one totally positive.

We are talking about Edelman here.......

He will not only play, but the kid dominates, sparks us all the way to Cali and ends up becoming our second SB WR MVP.

That's your story boys and girls.

As long as he keeps eating his avocado ice cream, I think he'll be fine.

So, he should be fully healed in time for the Superbowl?:)

12 weeks from the date of the injury is the exact date of the Superbowl!

HGH usually takes at least 8 weeks to kick in. Edelperson will be good to go after the wildcard.

You don't have to cover Edelman,he is not 100%-DC

Oh CRAP-DC looking for a new job.

Marvin Jones got a jones fracture back in the 2014 preseason and was due back in about 8 weeks before injuring something else and being placed on IR. Kevin Durant also suffered a jones fracture in 2014 and returned in about 8 weeks. He was pretty close to 100% scoring 27 points his first night back. It's not football but you do put a lot of stress on your feet in basketball.

I would be surprised if Edelman didn't play in the divisional round.

There's this study?

Per the study return to play is 6.5 to 13 weeks (9.7 +/-3.2). Our Squirrel is in play for the 2nd week of playoffs.

I've seen 6-8 weeks and I did see an orthopedic site that said 10-12. I don't think the 6-8 week reports are irresponsible at all, but the fact is, it could be much longer too, it's individual and procedures can be unsuccessful.

Here's a very detailed sports orthopedics site that says 6-8 and there are more. a range of 6-12 is realistic, but probably includes some botched surgeries, I'm guessing.

I meant which study as in
"Hey, here's a link to a study!":)

Welcome to the internet.
Link was right there, embedded in text.

You know, I can't see links here on firefox. I hovered over your stuff and didn't see anything. The more they "improve" these browsers, the less they work. I shall try again.

The bright side? After he tried to play with his mangled finger he dropped alot of balls as his hand was a mess. Now that finger surely is healed, so at least he will have his hands fully back.

You still use Firefox? Do you have an AOL account too? Haha

You were lamenting no link in the sourcing post prior to mine which is the one that had the link.

Not sure I've seen 12 weeks. The study posted said 8-10 - <10 with accelerated rehab.

Either way, 9 weeks seems to give him an excellent chance of playing and being healthy, if limited.
