Rapoport: Danny Amendola could miss 2-6 weeks

What else is new ? Amendola missed 20 of the last 32 games prior to today, why is this a shock that he's going to miss time ?
Wow, i never thought he missed that many. Sometimes a player is just injury prone and it has nothing to do with how they take care of themselves. Theres not much they can do about it, or so it seems. Dowling is a perfect example.

DA is actually very tough but for whatever reason he misses a lot of games due to injury. Its not DA's fault any more than it was Ras I Dowling's fault that he had an injury bug. Having said that its difficult to understand when the Pats front office seemingly dismiss an established pattern of injuries when it comes to drafting or signing someone.
Huh, i hadn't read this before i posted mine, almost identical :)

And i don't get the Pats FO behavior regarding a players injury HX either

Sucks he is not out there but if we get him healthy for the stretch run then I am happy.

remember his contract

" He will earn a $31,250 bonus for every game in which he is active, so the Patriots have protected themselves a bit in case of injury."

Ummmm. 15 of those games were from a single injury (that put him on IR). It's not like he got injured, missed a few games, came back, got injured, missed a few more games, came back, got injured, etc.

We're all good because the Lions could trade Calvin Johnson to the Pats!

someone in his other thread said he wasn't made of glass and that you're basically an idiot for thinking so....you know who you are.

OK, so that's great, Krafty Bob can save some $ if his prized free agent glass figurine can't stay on the field...but what does that mean to the team on the field and to the fans who pay their hard earned $ to go to the games? It means absolutely nothing because history says Kraft is cheap when it comes to signing free agents from other teams. When was the last time the Patriots signed a free agent coming off his first contract - you know, the contract that usually gets big $? Kraft usually signs broken down old guys - A Wilson, Tank Williams, Robert Gallery because they are CHHHEEEEEAAAAAPPPP, just like him, the list goes on .....

Whether Danny misses 1, 2 or 6 games isn't the OP's main issue, as far as I can tell.

The problem is Danny is hurt already, and its a nagging injury that usually stays with a player for the duration of the season, regardless of the sport.

This team went out and gambled on a guy who has a track record of missing games and parted ways the model of reliability at the position.

We're also sitting on a large cushion of cap space while Brady hurls balls at WRs that have more business being on a practice squad than a game day roster.

Anyone with a flicker of brain activity knew that WR was going to be an issue for us this year even if Gronk and Amendola were healthy and played all 16 games. There were noticeable shortcomings and deficiencies in our passing game last year when we had Wes, Gronk, Hernandez and Lloyd. What was the plan to fix the problems this year? An unproven, fragile version of Welker, a couple mid round draft picks and a smattering of UDFAs?

Are you ****ing me, Bill?

Re: Ian Rapoport: Amendola could miss 2-6 weeks.

They made a nice offer, however he rejected it.. I believe 3 years @24 million, he thought he was worth more... he was not.

His agent overestimated his value..

I am pretty sure that Curran reported that this was Welker asked for, not what they offered. And given his production he was most certainly worth it however the market for veteran players over 30 has basically collapsed and none are getting what their production should get them, they are all getting radically lower offers and that's why so many are lingering on the market for so long. The best offer the patriots made was 2/16 IIRC, and when a player produces in the top 3 at their pposition over the 3 previous seasons that is a sh.tty offer.

Bottom line, Welker is gone to their primary contender and the Patriots are really hurting offensively. Amendola looks like he will be a really good player for them but Belichick appears to have grossly miscalculated this past offseason and they are going to pay a high price for it. I understand his thinking in that he believed they would have Hernandez, Gronkowski, Amendola, Vereen, and Edelman available to weather going young at the WR position but injuries and murders have turned it into a situation where the young guys have to turn into reliable performers immediately, and so far they haven't proven up to that challenge, and ultimately that falls on Belichick because he makes all the calls on who to sign or let go. They are lucky the division sucks because that at least gives them a shot at getting healthy and scraping their way into the play-offs, and we can still hold out hope that they will be able to improve enough between now and then to pull off some sort of play-off run, however for the first time in a long llong time this team does not look like it is a SB contender. that could change, especially given how well their defense is meeting the challenge, but right now their offense is abysmal. It is going to be an interesting season and i will be interested to see how or if they can find ways to win enough and improve enough to be a contender, but right now they are seriously challenged.,

Not a good thing if he misses six weeks, but this estimate is a little wacky. It is like saying that if you bought a lottery ticket tonight you are guaranteed to win anything from $2 to the $100 million jackpot.

You have been called an idiot by so many that it's hard to know who you are referring to. However the NFL would obviously be a much better league if all the players were as tough as those who post here, most of whom make through their fantasy seasons without missing so much as a single game.

Either way they should simply let him sit until he has healed, otherwise this will go on all season. They are going to have to find ways to win without these guys and bringing him back early will just mean they lose him again. If they can split the next 2 games and get him back in week five then they should be in decent shape overall. Belichick has a really big challenge on his hands this season, and if he is the GOAT, which I think most he believe him to be, then he should be able to find ways and come up with game plans to get enough wins to get them into the play-offs. I think they can manage this, we'll see? I do like the way their defense is stepping up and hopefully that continues.

Amedola was definitely visibly hurt kinda early. Did Belichick exacerbate the injury by keep playing him? Dunno.

But the Patriots probably don't beat the Bills without Amendola. The guy converted nine first downs.

Right on. Can't agree more with all of this.

God damn it.

Still can't believe they didn't ****ing pay Welker.

1) The former writer of the Crap sheet is reliable now that he reports on Patriots practices without even the possibility of being there? (He wasn't before, but at least it was possible.)

2) 2-6 weeks, Um, that is a WIIIIIIDE window. You mean he might be back for Tampa, or maybe not. If he misses that, he may or may not be active for the Falcons. (Now that I've said that, I expect a check from the NFL network.)

Edit: Should I highlight the word "could"? Gisele could leave Tom Brady for a bit of Lurker1965.

look at the bright side. the pats are excellent at identifying injury prone players and signing them.

Re: Ian Rapoport: Amendola could miss 2-6 weeks.

however for the first time in a long llong time this team does not look like it is a SB contender.

The one thing that can be said about Bill Belichick is that he builds his teams for the second half of the season, not the first half.

In the second half of the season, the Patriots have 14 more wins than any other team going back to 2000.

Should we all have known Ahern was going to go off the deep end? look at what they should have had on the roster and where we are today. It more important what the roster looks like in Dec anyway.
