Gronk: arm injury

We can definitely survive untilt he Houston/SF games but I fear we'll feel his absense in those matchups. Edelman will need to step up, Hernandez has to get healthy, and Lloyd/Welker need to stay healthy.

Regardless it'll be okay as long as he can avoid IR. Probably the most hopeful thing right now about our title hopes is that all our proven key guys have avoided IR so far. Chances at the 1st round bye might have got a bit lower but definitely not out the question.

You guys crack me up....Shiancoe shores up TE depth? He might get hurt playing 5 snaps.... We just lost the second most important player on our team for the rest of the season...and our hopes of a bye our lost. Shiancoe????please

BB should be ripped to shreds tomorrow, I hope he learns from this....Brady could have been knocked silly for throwing those rockets in a 50 point blowout.
What "rockets?" WTF are you talking about?

got me...I'm not looking up in there either, Jackson....this guy could just cut loose and *bam*...a case of sewercide...

Lets wait until we hear about how severe the injury is until we all jump off the ship.

A hairline fracture is considered a break, but if he has surgery and gets a pin put in tomorrow, he obviously wont play against the Jets, but might be ok for the Texans. Everything out there right now is speculation.

I'm afraid you don't know human biology. Natural growth hormone in the human body is roughly 2x more at 23 than at 31. In layman's terms that means Gronk would heal faster.

I know human biology fairly well, actually.

Welker
Lloyd
Edelman
Salas

Fells
Shaincoe
Hernandez

losing Gronk hurts, but look above, we still have plenty of play makers at the pass catching positions, and that's not including the RBs. He'll be back for the playoffs, and a broken forearm is easier to come off of than a high ankle sprain.

Jeeeezus.

Who can replace Gronk?
Belichick owns this injury.
We lost Gronk for the season.

Last year in the Super Bowl there was NO replacement for Gronkowski. And it hurt. Shiancoe is NOT Gronkowski. Fells is not Gronkowski. But both are viable replacements. We get it that they cannot be as dominant as Gronkowski. But they are decent replacements, albeit downgrades. Hernandez should be back to upgrade the other TE slot. The offense will be fine for the next month.

The division is a lock. Gronkowski will be healthy for the playoffs.

An injury on a PAT. A freak injury on a PAT. It happens. Belichick owns the injury because Gronkowski got injured on a PAT?

As I said in an earlier post even before we knew how serious the injury was, this falls squarely in the lap of Bill Belichick.
Was NO need for Gronk or Wes to be in that game in the 4th qtr. Both were already banged up coming into this game (Gronk hasn't been healthy all year) and they have a quick turnaround with the Thursday game.
Was NO need for Brady to still be in, for Vince to still be in.
It's ridiculous to expose the teams key players in a blowout especially when they have to turn around and play again in 4 days.
Sooner or later a critical injury was going to happen and it has.
You own it Bill Belichick.

Don't believe everything you think.

Apparently not. A 15 year old will heal faster than a 23 year old and a 23 year old will heal faster than a 31 year old. Proven fact.

Gronk can heal from both his forearm and hip and be 100% come playoffs...Hernandez should be back soon and we have a good running game not only that but Welker and Tom terrific...as long as Tom is healthy we can bea any team Pats are in good shape

Please feel free to tell the class how much faster a 23 year old's forearm heals than a 31 year old's forearm. How many weeks will the difference be, because of those 8 years of age?

#Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski's surgery to repair his broken forearm will likely be tomorrow, I'm told.

Rapsheet.....

heh...some guy is on the post game show going ballistic about Gronk being in the game...Fred and Steve are torturing him...DeOssie calls him Roberta...and both former NFL PLAYERS are calmly explaining why this question is sub mongoloidal

you obviously know nothing about how a football team operates.....turn on the post game and listen to DeOssie and Smerlas explain it...DeOssie is a known Patriot hater FWIW....Gronk plays on the PAT unit...the PAT unit goes on the field quickly after every TD...there is no team in the NFL who replaces a specific player on a PAT out of fear of injury...that is LUDICROUS...and shows a complete ignorance of the game

If there's a legitimate question to be asked here, it's why Gronk is on the PAT unit in the first place, but even then I don't think it's crazily irresponsible like some people probably will. Belichick puts the best players out there, and that's all there is to it. If injury risk is increased as a result, then so be it. He doesn't coach from a position of fear, and the positives of that outweight the negatives by a pretty wide margin.

You're the idiot. I know when he was injured. I saw the replay.
And that somehow changes this discussion???
Why was an injured all year Gronk on the field for ANY reason with 3 mins left in a blowout?? Why was bad ankle Welker back to receive a punt in the 4th qtr?? Was was Brady in at all. Why was I seeing Vince bouncing around when the Patriots had 40 + on the board??? This has been an issue many folks have had with Belichick for years. He exposes his key players to injury by leaving them in games far too long. Was only a matter of time before it bit him in the arse. He owns it.

I guess we should have just foregone the PAT because we were afraid of somebody getting hurt. Grow some balls, this is a violent game where people get hurt. Deal with it.

I suspect that Gronk will be back before the end of the season, both to shake off the rust and to help the Pats make a late-season push for playoff seeding. Totally a hunch and not based on any specific knowledge, but I'd be surprised if Gronk misses any more than 4 weeks, and wouldn't be shocked if he misses less. As soon as his arm is sufficiently healed that he isn't at a significantly increased risk to re-break it, he'll be on the field I'd think.

Easily could shave weeks off. I broke my wrist as a teenager and 4-6 week prognosis healed in 2 weeks.
