Gronk: arm injury

You guys crack me up....Shiancoe shores up TE depth? He might get hurt playing 5 snaps.... We just lost the second most important player on our team for the rest of the season...and our hopes of a bye our lost. Shiancoe????please

BB should be ripped to shreds tomorrow, I hope he learns from this....Brady could have been knocked silly for throwing those rockets in a 50 point blowout.

last I checked, 4-6 weeks wasn't the rest of the season...

Well BB has gotten away with using his best players in what might be considered "odd" situations for years now. Most of the time when we suffer an injury to a key player it is in the normal course of events in game situations where you expect the star player to be playing anyway. Since we have instituted this TE oriented offense though, if there is one fly in the ointment it is that TE's are really big physical players that get caught up in the same kinds of physical play that a Tackle gets into. Tough when you offense revolves around guys that are confronted with that kind of physicality game after game, play after play.

There is much that this offense can survive cause it has Tom Brady. But its dependance on TE's will still be there in the post season and there, when your key guys are not available for you, it is much more problematic.

Lmao. 35.8 ppg without Hernandez the whole season. Did you see what Edelman did today? A 3 WR set of Welker, Lloyd, Edelman is still very formidable. Add that we have Ridley in the backfield, as well as an actual CB duo, the sky is not falling.

Damn, I know. Belichick should have learned this from all of the other players who have broken their arms on PATs before.

The silver lining here might be that regardless of how much Gronk's hip may have improved over the weeks, he still is not running like I am used to seeing him run. Maybe while he is recovering, his hip will fully heal and he will be back to full speed again.

Belichick let Moss go and this offense took off with the tight ends... he's already planning again to morph the offense into an Edelman-centric offense... no problems...

Anyone blaming BB for keeping starters in late obviously doesn't remember the huge comebacks we've let slide in recent years. Keep the starters in until you're up 30+, which they did.

As I said in an earlier post even before we knew how serious the injury was, this falls squarely in the lap of Bill Belichick.
Was NO need for Gronk or Wes to be in that game in the 4th qtr. Both were already banged up coming into this game (Gronk hasn't been healthy all year) and they have a quick turnaround with the Thursday game.
Was NO need for Brady to still be in, for Vince to still be in.
It's ridiculous to expose the teams key players in a blowout especially when they have to turn around and play again in 4 days.
Sooner or later a critical injury was going to happen and it has.
You own it Bill Belichick.

That's it.. people on here have convinced me that I now want the patriots to lose every game and miss the playoffs because they cannot win the superbowl now.

you need a friend to protect you from what happens tomorrow...they'll be here trying to convince you to give away all your possessions, castrate yourself and wait for a boarding pass to get on the comet, Kohoutek....

Maybe this will allow Schiancoe and Brady to get a rapport. It's also not a bad thing Hernandez is on his way back and they might have something in Vereen.

Oh ya and Edelman might be a viable option

This is just very upsetting knowing that Houston and the 49ers are right around the corner.:violent:

you obviously know nothing about how a football team operates.....turn on the post game and listen to DeOssie and Smerlas explain it...DeOssie is a known Patriot hater FWIW....Gronk plays on the PAT unit...the PAT unit goes on the field quickly after every TD...there is no team in the NFL who replaces a specific player on a PAT out of fear of injury...that is LUDICROUS...and shows a complete ignorance of the game

Maybe you guys should learn what happened before making yourselves look like idiots. Gronk was not in the last TD drive at all. He came in on the PAT team when he got injured. It was fluke thing, lets hang Belichick, give me a friggen break. This board has become really awful.

Now this is the real killer. Not having him for these pivotal clashes will definitely hurt.

The wildcard here is really aaron Hernandez....while he's not gronkowski, if he comes back healthy, the loss stings less because he offers alot of the similar mismatches that gronkowski brings(to big for a CB, too fast for a linebacker)

How is this edition of JE different from the JE we have seen from day 1. Some games he looks like he is on the way to the HOF, other days he looks like he could not find his own rear end with two hands and a hunting dog. There is no middle ground with JE or at least there never has been.

I know we are all starting to talk him up I think partially cause we don't want do deal with the Pats organization having very likely erred in the way they handled the Welker negotiation. JE is not Wes Welker. I doubt he will ever be Wes Welker. The Pats may well be able to insert JE and get away with it but I don't think he will ever be the player from the LOS that Welker has been.

Exactly. Look at the Packers a few years ago.

The packers had depth........Who can replace gronk?

The patriots have to turn into a power running team in order to stand a chance in the playoffs.

This is BAD.............BUT IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!!

Here's a way to see all of this in a positive light-
Look, there's 6 games remaining in the regular season. We all know Gronk goes full tilt boogie spaz every game. There was a chance he was gonna get even more banged up or even have a season ending injury had he played the remainder of the regular season.
This way, he's safely on the shelf and will be fresh come playoffs. The rest of his huge dinged-up body will heal this way.
Patriots, in most likelihood, aren't gonna get a bye anyhow. So they have less of a chance to beat Houston & Frisco without him? Big deal. Still gonna be the 3 or 4 seed come January anyway.
January is when it's important to be healthy. This injury shelving Gronk until then could be seen as a blessing in disguise.

It's a broken bone, not a mild sprain.

I'm afraid you don't know human biology. Natural growth hormone in the human body is roughly 2x more at 23 than at 31. In layman's terms that means Gronk would heal faster.
