Vrabel Dissed. Sanders DPOY

The same thing happened with Polamalu a couple years ago

My opinion now is much as it was then. He's fantastic, but certainly not the unstoppable force that stops the Indy defense from coming unglued (if you'll excuse the mixed metaphor in this English lesson). Safeties are always around the ball, so it becomes one of those self-fulfiling prophecies ("holy cow he's in on the tackle again!).

To my untrained eye, he is as susceptible to play-action and pump-fakes as Polamalu is.

Despite throwing to Moss on approx 50% of second half throws, Sanders was rarely immediately involved in any of NE's pass plays earlier this year.

He is a great player who has been handed more credit than he deserves for Indy's defensive resurgence.

That said, I do think that he was the one who set the intensity level that all the others strive for.

Sanders is one helluva player. I'd be proud to see him in a Pats uni. That being said, no one on the Pats is ever dissed by missing an individual award. That's not why they play.

No the incidence has not increased, but instead people say "dissed" instead of disrespectful, as in your sarcasm when asking "satisfy your curiosity" would be considered disrespectful or a "dis."

And I suspected that your reasoning stemmed from you being a crotchety conservative type who's resistant to any change that isn't initiated out of his own will. Sort of a "kids these days" type of person. Although my assumption is probably wrong, which is why i tried to ask politely.

Funny you should say that. I envision this guy as one that when they cut the bottom out of the peach basket or drew the 3 point line he yelped:"You'll change the entire complexion of the game...ruin it to no end!"

I've never used that word in my life nor can I recall anyone of my friends ever using it. It's a fairly recent form of the word. If someone approached me and said "are you dissn' me?", I would either laugh or say "What?"

Of course Vrabel wasn't insulted or disrespected. He's not the only other defensive player who was eligible for that award. Had Sanders not received it and someone other than Vrabel gotten it, he STILL would not have been disrespected. Once again, it's not up to you or I to say if someone is disrespected...unless YOU feel disrespected.

Can I ask how old you are? You wouldn't be of the generation that invented the word "cool" would you? Because I know some WWII vets who swear that the word "cool" will be the downfall of society:eek:

Okay. "Lonely" and "premeditated" (and countless others) weren't 'proper words' before Shakespeare first used them.

Language is an ever-evolving thing. We have to go with the flow.

I'm a hypocrite though, because I'll never acknowledge "guestimate" as a proper word.

I see what you're saying. I'll never acknowledge "dissed" or "diss'n";) I can tell you those words have not penetrated our society much beyond those in their early 20's. I can only hope they don't go much further.

please re read:" I felt personally dissed ....."

I miss the good old days when players wore leather helmets and boxing was barefist, these new versions of the sports just aren't the same:mad:

Cool has always been a word my friend. Just its use that has changed. Dissed has never been a word. Far out can't be used as an example either. You can't compare word use and phrases with the invention of a non-word

They will, don't worry, you grumpy old man you:D

Can I ask a question, how many of you thought Bob Sanders was great before the end of last season? It just seems like some media creation to me. They started saying he is great at the end of last season and in the playoffs and now everyone says he is a God.

I think the guy is good but its like one of those Emperor's New Clothes situations. Have you always thought he was this good? Or is it one of those things you have heard so often that you assume it be true but are not entirely sure why?

Sanders was recognized as a very important cog to the Indianapolis defense by the national media way before the end of the 2006 season. He was voted into the 2005 Pro Bowl.

But yes his aura among the national media did grow when the 2006 playoffs started, but keep in mind the Colts had been destroyed on the run by Jacksonville and even Houston before he came back, and then when the playoffs started and he was back in the lineup we shut down Larry Johnson and Jamal Lewis en route to the Super Bowl. You can debate his significance in regards to the defense but we gave up way less run yards that year with him in the lineup.

Here's a quick question for you: Who cares?

Fine ol man. Who can I see about using copyrighted/trademarked words. Nothing infuriates me more then improper usage and hijacking for public domains sake of legally copyrighted/Trademarked words.
Kleenex, Ping Pong, Bandaid, Legos, Xerox, Tivo, Scotch Tape, Q-Tips, Popsicle, Aspirin, Frisbee, Jello-O, Thermos... I can go on

You fail to recognize that I'm asking the same question twice there, just less bluntly the first time. You might contract those two statement to form the question; who cares what words other people use? What are you scared of oh worrisome protector of white American English?

It probably IS a new thing for non Colts fans, but for some of us, we've been "preaching about Bob" since he's been a Colt, and trust me, he's been bringing the hammer since his Iowa Hawkeyes days. Search Youtube for Bob Sanders, and watch the video titled "hardest hitter son", or something like that...to see what I mean.

How about "Jap" for Japanese people? Now that's a word we can all be proud of.

YOU JUST MADE MY POINT!!! Using Dissed is as embaressing to our society as using Jap...THANK YOU Wildo!

We have all seen what the Colt defense is with him, and without him.
Yes, that's an interesting observation. Because the Colts D certainly sucks without him, and play to a whole new level with him.

It's different with guys like Vrabel and Cromartie and the other candidates. They have a better team D around them, so even though they are probably better players than Sanders, the difference with them in or out isn't as pronounced as it is with Sanders and the Colts.

Sanders is a liability in coverage, but I would still put him as Colts MVP (yes, ahead of Manning) because he makes such a difference with the Colts. I don't see his value as that high when comparing him to the best in the league, though.
