OT: Fan passed away at Gillette Last night

There seem to be several witnesses and each one has a slightly different version. We need to wait until all the facts are out then we’ll see what happens.
The stadium should have a camera system that can focus on any seat in the venue.

I didn’t watch the video but if both men squared up with equal gusto, and nothing outside a regular fight took place, no charges beyond assault are appropriate, and then only if the victor threw the first punch.

If someone who lives off fast food and cigarettes puts his share into getting in a fight with me, I shouldn’t lose my life in prison because he had zero business doing that and I connected with a few punches that would have just humbled a typical person.

Did the Dolphin fan just crazily attack him with no provocation or was it a mutual exchange? I didn’t really want to watch a man die.

It sounds like Mooney left his area and started the conflict with him. If Mooney, initiated the physical contact, which it's sounding like is the case, then there is really no way they are going to charge the person who was staying put for throwing a punch after someone else escalated the situation. Throw in that there were outlier medical complications that the other party couldn't reasonably know that contributed to the death, it's a case a DA might not want to charge.

the original stuff i read said that the dolphin guy was the only one swinging punches

if its true Mooney went up to him and initiated, then yea that changes things quite a bit

Family could still go after the guy in a civil suit

In MA there is no "real" right to self defense. There is no castle doctrine, there is no stand your ground law. Anyone claiming self defense must prove that they did "everything possible" - whatever that means - to deescalate the situation. So if if the Miami fans claims "self-defense", Mr. Mooney and his family should be able to nail them on this.

those laws are some of the main reasons i wont live in MA and a few other states

any state that has laws that benefit perpetrators over victims and home owners is beyond messed up. If someone breaks into your home at night while you and your family are sleeping, you're supposed to retreat from your own home in the middle of the night before you dare engage some perp that broke in... those perps have more rights than the home owners

its sickening

The law is not immutable. It can be changed. We have to have the will to vote for people to change it.

I’m not a dr but if the guy didn’t get into a fight and found the problem ahead of time and took care of it he could have lived another 30 years?
So I’m thinking the guy should still be charged hitting your head and being in a traumatic fight could of been the cause of it.

Which wouldn’t have happened if he didn’t get attacked.
Thanks Tyreek for inciting Dolphin fans.
But is that what he had? Or did he have the condition they call the Widowmaker because you don’t know you have it until you just suddenly drop dead? And it can happen any time, so you don’t have thirty years, you’re just living on borrowed time. A friend got lucky, his doctor found it and gave him a quadruple bypass. If that’s what Mooney had and it was previously undetected there’s no way the guy who punched him should be charged.

???

They spend to the cap limit every year

Do you know for certain that the pats employees are underpaid or something
Do you actually believe this stuff or are you just ranting? I will note, however, that Flying Elvis absolutely DID cure multiple ills -- money well spent, whatever the sum. :)
Yes, know several who work at Gillette.

And while it's true throughout the league, the cheerleaders are underpaid.

I have a family friend who is retired from his career but has worked at Gillette ever since to make some spare cash. He says the same thing. You basically get paid next to nothing if you are Gillette staff.

I’ve had them for 36 years, before Kraft bought the team ever single game there were all out brawls in our parking lot, shortly after here come the State Troopers with their dogs.
I had them in the 80’s.
People puking on each other.
I remember a Monday night Cowboys game. They were bombing this Family of Cowboy fans with snowballs
Father had a Cowboy hat. Teen kids. Mother dressed to the nines. They were sitting mid field lower seats. State Police had to surround them to escort them out safely. Police were getting pelted with snowballs
I believe that was the game they wanted to get into Howard Cosell’s booth to I quess ruff him up. We did not have another Monday night game again for a long time

There's a statue in Philly dedicated to the fans who pelted Santa with snowballs.

They rocked the limo Cosell was in when he was being brought into the stadium, those were wild days, so many drunk idiots, I would never take my wife to a game back in those days.

Some Pats fans are class acts.

When NE beat KC in the AFCC, Pats fans were in the KC bars post game calling the Chiefs chokers and losers. I have been to a few road games where Pats fans were mouthing off in the parking lot pre game.

The Patriots social media account on IG still hasn’t posted anything about him, which is somewhat disgraceful.

Nor will they, as long as there is an investigation.

They could still do a generic R.I.P. post and share details for any charity he supported.

from the article with that video it seems like he was engaged with someone else, then the dolphin fan that him simply walked up and punched him?

like a 3rd man in situation?
That's what I thought the situation was all along

Sad. Anyone who doesn’t know how to adequately defend themselves (and it certainly looks like Mooney didn’t) should just leave it alone and not engage. Homie in the Bryce Young jersey here was in the same situation…

And if you have a bad ticker, after a few pops when your blood pressures already elevated, don't lose your cool or get into a fight.
