I don't know and am glad it isn't my decision
I hear that. I hope BB makes the right one. Deflategate's turned me into a bit of a fanboy so I want Brady here as long as he wants to be. But I also long for the joy that our competitors' misery will bring me if JG was another great in the Pats's dynasty. Imagine that...like 30 years....

I am existing in the present or was, just enjoying JAG's excellent adventure.
I don't like thinking about players I like leaving. Period.
I'm not the GM, just a fan.

I remember bozos here saying 2 firsts for Matty C, and then not having learned, a high #1 for Mallet.

The difference is that there is precedence for Garoppolo with Sam Bradford. The stuff for Cassel and Mallett was just BS.

Keep him this year and next franchise him 2018. Tommy retires or plays for minimum

The Jets forums right now are replete with posters on a ledge wondering if Garappolo is another franchise QB, and looking at 10 more years in the AFC East wilderness.

I personally enjoy that. :D

Yup, trade him as soon as you get a sufficient offer (a first minimum, should be able to get more), preferably to an NFC team.

Carry on developing Brissett as the next guy up and Brady's potential replacement if he shows signs of aging the next couple years.

I voted end of the year so we can see if Brady drops off at all, which I do not expect, and then trade for IMO at least a top 15 pick, potentially more. If Brady does show signs of decline then keep Grop thru 2017 and make a more informed decision for 2018 potentially cutting/trading Brady then while signing Grop to a long term deal. What I expect to happen, however, is that Brady comes back plays like his usual brilliant self and the deals we get will be too sweet to pass up. Imagine Bill with the ammo to draft the next Seymour or Mayo.

What happened to: "Yes, he's made of glass" ?

I voted no, as Id love to eventually see him take over as our new franchise QB. The problem lies in "how" that would be possible, as there are obstacles.

I would never consider trading Brady, but after the first two games it's difficult to envision getting rid of Garoppolo just the same.

I am not worried about tommy this year. I am worried about next year. When quarterbacks hit 40 it hasn't been successful unless you're brett favre

Or Warren Moon. It also depends on Brissett's development and BB opinion of who will have the better career, JG or JB.

No clue anyone would want them to trade him.

Since 2001 only 2 times the Pats have opened the game with 3 70+ yard scoring drives, they were

Tom Brady Week 8 2012

Jimmy Garoppolo Week 2 2016

Not saying he is Tom but if Jimmy is doing this kind of stuff in his 2nd game you are looking at a guy that has a high ceiling.
how many qb's have started first home game of career with 3 straight td drive to start the game?

McDaniels said that he was ready to offer a first round for Matt Cassel, but Belichick traded him too fast. Belichick needed to get his franchise tag number off the books.

Besides, we see that these trades are the matter of the times. When Cassel was traded, the trade value for QBs was down. Now after the trades up to draft QB prospects have done for multiple high first and second day picks and Sam Bradford was traded twice in two years for a first rounder and something else of value, the trade value for a QB is far higher than it was in 2008. In today's NFL, Cassel would have easily got a first rounder and probably a second pick in a trade.
I don't disagree, but the reason the Pats were "only" able to get #33 for Matt was the time element. The Pats literally had just days to create a trade, or they would have either have to play Cassel the franchise tag (which was impossible) or release him. That took a LOT of the leverage away from NE.

However they really gain a LOT of leverage if they trade him after the 2016 season. Now they have until Draft day to make a deal, and can pass if they don't get what they want. Besides, why WOULDN'T they get multiple picks for him.

Haha NO. Of course if he does succeed Brady, I expect multiple superbowl victories out of the kid... the way he look so far, it's reasonable. The future is more exciting with Garapolo in the picture.

Jimmy has played great in the first two games. I would have said just really well, but he was on fire against the Dolphins.
To be fair the one TD pass to Amendola, Danny was wide open in the end zone by a good three feet. I really think any QB in the league could have completed that pass.
Jimmy was playing great, but as many posters have said, it is difficult to determine true skill on such a small sample size. Ask Matt Cassel.
I mean if we want to cherry pick first halves of games, if I recall correctly, TB12 threw 5 TD passes in the first half of a playoff game against Denver in January 2012.
I think Jimmy could be great, where I am struggling to understand is why no one is talking about whether or not Jacoby could be a potential starting QB some day.
He looked pretty good for a rookie.
I guess my vote would be perfect world, TB12 wins the Super Bowl this year and next, then retires and hands the keys over to Jimmy G. I don't think that will happen.
I know that Jimmy G will be better than Tom in 2020, but I am not so sure he will be better in 2016 and 2017 and that is when the decision needs to be made.
I would think the soonest Jimmy G would be no doubt better than Tom is 2019, which is why I voted trade if we can get the right package.

Idk about brissett but i prefer jimmy. Love the fact that he doesn't stare his wrs.

Again matt cassel's not as talented as this kid. My opinion.

I hope we trade him because it will mean one of or both of:

A) Tom still got it.
B) They feel JB is a suitable successor

I love what I say from JG so far, but if he can lend us a big return, I do hope we trade him, ride Brady for 2 or 3 years and let Jacoby take offer after. So, in a nutshell, I want us to be able to trade Jimmy as it is the best case scenario. Nothing against the guy, quite the opposite, I would love him to be our QB of the future if he is to be as good as he was yesterday for the long term. However, you gotta be realistic, with TB's cap hit if he were to be traded, it is pretty unlikely that we will turn over the team to JG soon enough in order for him to stay here.

As the rest of the league shows, a good QB is worth more than a first round pick. Trade Grop only if we already have a good QB to replace Brady with.

I get that. I am just saying small sample size. I mean to be fair to Cassel, he was a backup at arguably the best school in the county when he was in college.
Jimmy G played at a super small school (I realize Romo went there) and put up stats against lesser competition.
I think Jimmy is much better than Cassel too, but there is inherent bias in that statement because I have watched the remainder of Cassel's career play out and he has been trash.
If we are talking 2008 Cassel vs 2016 Jimmy, I think the competition on who is better is much closer, in my opinion.
