Chandler Jones Traded

And he still fetched a first-rounder. Have to wonder what Al Davis would've given us for Jones if he were still around.

A first-rounder two seasons later (they traded him in fall 2009 for a first-rounder in 2011).

That still doesn't change my point one bit, Belichick is still hit-and-miss on 2nd round picks. Belichick had some good picks (ex. Gronk, Collins, Vollmer, Matt Light, etc.) ... but also had some horrendous picks such as Aaron "Glassfoot" Dobson, Ras-IR Dowling, Darius Butler, etc.

Darius Butler is still in the NFL and was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week last year (for what thats worth).

Belichick's worst round is clearly in the 2nd. However, he is still hitting exactly League averages (or a little better) when drafting at that (on average) 56th spot.

Not really worried about the big cap hit if they pick up his fifth year option. If he doesn't pan out in 2016 they can cut him any time before 9/1 2017 and have him cost $0 for that year. OR they can decline his option and put him in the position to be playing for his career this year and deal with the cap consequences later.

That's not correct. At the start of the 2017 league year, the fifth-year tender becomes guaranteed for skill as well as injury.

I'm not sure that is the best way to use him.
I think Easley is a Michael Bennett type player who can line up at RDE in a base and then slide inside to DT in a sub package.

Can easley stay healthy? That's still a question mark with him. Might have to draft another DT

Chandler Jones, although very talented, is not necessary for the defense to succeed. Too bad we din't get a first round for him.

Too much fighting... Let's gather around the scratching post and have at it!

Meanwhile thank you Chandler and welcome Jonathan!

his skids were greased right then and anyone who's been around this team the past 15 years knows it.You're in the playoffs and you show up naked at the police station all ****ed up?...c'mon with this crybaby separation anxiety crap..he's GONE...deal with it, fan club

Thanks Chandler! You were a beast!

That said, this is much easier than saying goodbye to Sey.

Kevin Faulk's suspension and Sammy Morris's play directly led to Brady's injury in 2008 and they didn't get cut. Jones's screwup didn't get him traded, though it might have been a minor factor.

Cooper doesn't have a big market value currently so they'll probably try and extend him now.

Yeah it would probably be a smart financial move for him to do an extension for a couple seasons. There's no way we pick up that 5th year option, and if he doesn't have a good season for us, his next contract will be very small.

Its likely we don't take up that option, so would he become a free agent or restricted free agent where we could put an original round tender or 2nd rounder on him.

edit - My bad, this is year four. Although wasn't sure whether year one with the injury means he worked that first year or not .

The overdosing on drug a week before the divisional round playoff game probably drove done his value a little...[emoji6]
That and his mediocre last quarter of the season.

This all comes down to whether or not the Pats can get near-Jones production off the end. Sheard and Flowers? Long?

If they bring in Long and he can set that edge at the same level, they've added Cooper and a second over a 3rd for nothing.

That's really what it comes down to.

I would venture to guess that Chandler Jones will probably have a career year this season now that he's not playing for the Patriots and thus teams will not be allowed to hold him at will without risk of penalties.

It comes down to economics. It comes down to BB and Caserio making the right decisions for this franchise. It comes down to contracts that are coming up for Hightower, Collins and Butler...they deemed it prudent to move Jones NOW. It just NEVER stops, the biatch crying and mewling and breast beating..all the way back to Milloy...year after year just more sobbing hysterics from you "knowers of things"...krist
