Chandler Jones Traded

It is a very even trade, but only because I don't think we would have extended Chandler Jones. DEs demand so much money and I still feel like he disappears in some games.

Good move in my opinion

Cooper isn't a star but he gives them a veteran guard they can start right away.

Wow, I didn't think they'd get a 2nd round pick for him, let alone Cooper. He's had some injury issues since he was drafted and is immensely talented. Hopefully Scar can turn him into a stud. Either way, the 2nd rounder is very nice. Assuming they bring in Chris Long now.

If Scar turns him into the player he was supposed to be it will be a really good deal. Hopefully they can get a RB early in this draft because they have a big hole at first down back.

I feel like Jones disappeared during some games. Tended to get sacks in bunches but sometimes he barely registered on the stat sheet, sacks or pressures alike.

He seemed like a great guy. I will miss him as he was part of the 2014 run, but something had to give with resigning all the defensive talent, and he is more replaceable than Hightower or Collins. Hoping for Chris Long signing, but could also see them taking a pass rusher with that second round pick if the right guy falls to them.

For all of you saying "OMG who's gonna rush the passer now?!"....let me remind you that Jones only had TWO sacks in the last SIX games of the regular season...and both of those came in a blowout against the titans...so really, sit down and let's see how this unfolds. Jabaal Sheard is more than capable of picking up some of that slack with a rotation of some of the younger guys, and possibly Chris Long.

Chandler was a streaky player and it was usually the big games that he decided to go off streak. His playoff week shenanigans were probably he last straw. I don't see how a guy can be 100% dedicated to winning the AFC Championship game if he is staying up all night smoking synthetic weed.

I saw that within a few minutes I had 47 new tweets and my first thought was, what move did the Pats make?

Not judging the trade, but a strength from last year, the DL, has lost two of its better players in Jones and Hicks. Hopefully Flowers, Johnson, Grissom, Long (?) can step up, but performance along the DL has been replaced by questions.

The pass rushing quartet of Sheard, Ninkovich, Long, and Flowers is going to be great.

I believe this gives us back to back picks in the 2nd round. 61 and 62, right?

The draft is supposedly deep in DTs so hopefully that can help replace Hicks' loss. Jones' loss will likely depend on the existing guys Flowers and Johnson, and it would certainly be nice to add Chris Long to that list but we'll see.

I like this trade quite a bit. We were never going to re-sign Jones, and even franchising him would have been prohibitive at the DE rate. So the Pats pick up a 2nd rounder and Cooper for one year of Jones and likely a pick at the end of the 3rd round in 2017? I'll take it.

Plus this draft is pretty good on DL talent, we've got DE depth, and Easley can play some DE if needed.

Woah.....I know we all assumed Chandler would be traded, but woah....

I actually really, really love this trade. Cooper, a 2nd and enough cap space to hopefully sign Long and either Harvin or Boldin. Nice.
