What happens if Brady goes down again like '08? Do you run with Mallett or try to install a completely different offense to accommodate Tebow? The Pats' offensive system is the complete opposite of what Tebow is successful at, which makes McDaniels' infatuation with him so puzzling.

There is no question Mallett would be the QB.

We usually do not carry a #3 QB. We always have them in camp. It would appear this year we have a flawed one so we can see if we can fix his flaws in the event we keep a #3 this year. Nothing shocking.

let me ask you, Demo, did Tebow ever go to the Denver or Jets coaching staff and tell them, "I think I can play TE, let me work out with that group?" Because that never happened. And Tebow happened to fall onto the most TE-happy team in the league. They are working on Ballard and Sudfeld before they even think of "teaching" Tebow how to play the position of Tight End. This is not a slap-**** team, if you want to convert positions you have to beat the competitors, and there are many, many.

Tebow was the #2 in NY, why would he go to the coaches and say "Hey, let me work out with and become a TE"? That said, there were times when he did line up as TE, so one would expect that they worked him at it. Then again, it was the Jets, so maybe they just threw him out there and said "do something".

As for converting guys, the Pats have a history of it and I'd presume that every guy they converted had to work at is new position. Something I heard about Belichick is apropos here. It's said that he isn't concerned with what guys CAN'T do. Rather, he believes in finding out what they CAN DO and putting them in a position to be successful at it.

I don't know if Tebow could be a good/great TE, RB, or H-back. I do know that he is athletic enough, and fast enough in most cases, but as mentioned before, there's more to position play that just being athletic.

IF it interests you, go back and look at some tape of Tebow from his 3 starts at the end of the 2010 season. Josh was gone by that time, but they were still running his offense. Tebow ran it pretty well for a rookie coming off the bench, to the tune of having a higher pts per game than he did with McCoy/Fox's offense in 2011.

I'll go ahead and add this disclaimer. I'm not saying that the kid lit it up or that he didn't have fundamental issues that still needed to be addressed.

I guess I would be one of those TOFs. I am a UF Alum (explains why I like Tim) and a Dolphins season ticket holder, although, admittedly, it is because I live 5 miles from Sun Life Stadium and not so much that I like the Fins. I will be wearing Pats gear this year at the game.

That being said, let me debunk a few myths. 1) I dont expect Tim to play at all, in any capacity, for a couple years, 2) I just hope he shows enough potential at TC for the coaches to believe that, if they develop him and let him sit on the bench and learn behind Brady, that they feel he will benefit the Pats in the future, either as a QB, backup or trade fodder for draft picks (he cost them very little to bring in), 3) Brady is the best QB in the history of the NFL over a career, 4) tebow is a third string QB and doesn't need some kind of "role" as he is certainly not as gifted a receiver as the Pats TEs or as gifted a runner as the Pats RBs - instead he needs to get in the film room, on the practice field, and in Brady's ear and away from the cameras and learn to play QB, 5) I have a lot of respect for the Pats as a winning organization and think tebow could not have come to a better spot, and 6) if he gets cut and doesn't make the 53 man roster, no harm, no foul, thanks for the opportunity

I think you will find that the circus comes mainly from folks who cant stand Tebow and will either blast forums with "why he sucks" or, just to be irritating ina revers psychology kind of way, say stupid, irrational crap like "he should be the starter." The real football fans may like Tim, but we know he isn't good enough to be a starting QB in the NFL right now, and may never be.

When is training camp open for the public?? Need to get vacation time & plane tickets. Appreciate the info. Thanks-

Late July - early Aug.

Patriots.com is your source. Sometimes they cancel a practice the day before so always check.

I'm a TOF'er. Easier to register to follow news, etc. I'm a fan of the entire NFL, year 'round, and this makes for a nice little story to follow, LONG TERM.

Let me add my two cents to dispel some myths:

1. Tebow shouldn't be starting. DERP.
2. No need for "packages." That was all a smokescreen in NY by the fans, too. Sanchez sucks and everybody is trying to think of ways to get to that conclusion so they can move on.
3. 2 point conversions might be interesting -- Brady's usually jogging off the field anyway.
4. Tebow's main drawback has been his mechanics -- it infects every part of his game with problems. Hard to see the field when your eyes are riding in a bumpy four-wheeler. Hard to pull the trigger when your body and feet are out of position. Errant throws happen when you go ahead and try.
5. He looks better this year, mechanically.
6. The supposed "onslaught" is laughably overblown. You'll have 4 or 5 regular posters, and in a country of 300 million that is nothing. But one ****** will jump in the pool and you'll find your regular members chasing him around for 75 pages, all the while crying and wailing that their lives have been ruined by "Tebow fans."

Most important: Just remember, so-called "reasonable" Tebow fans are out here, we think about what you'd wish, and we've got better things to do than to go around "correcting" other Tebow fans, or trolls, or anti-Tebow bashers.

This is a great team, and a great organization, and a great fan base. I hope Tebow can have the honor of making this squad, and developing as a player from the bench. He's a great competitor and athlete, with the in-game intangibles to win ballgames. If it's not in the cards, if they need to cut him in the interests of the team, then life goes on.

That being said, I won't be posting much on threads about Tebow. I'm hear to follow news and learn even more about the Patriots roster and new schemes. It's going to be a great season.

Not just me, sport. The vast majority of people who judge players for a living agree with me. 31 teams said "no thanks." Why?

The media circus that follows Tebow.

The teams that have a young QB that theyre trying to develop and see what they have could not bring in Tebow for risk of sabotaging that players chances.

Tebow would be perfect on a team with a top 5 defense that didnt get in shootouts and played close games. Tebow can win close ugly games just like Brady did in 2001. Hes already done so.

Tebow works on about 10 teams as a backup QB who have a legit starting QB. The Pats are 1 because BB wont let Tebowmania become bigger than the team. Watch Tebow not only make the team as a QB, but the Pats will find ways to use his strengths.

But the best team with the best coaches said yes.

Let's see how it plays out , he might not even make the team.

......not until they sell at least two million Tebow Patriot jerseys.

They may string this along for a season or two. But he'll make it at least until the last cutdown in late August/early September.

There ya go! That's what Bob Kraft had in mind!

At this point, I don't believe the Patriots have declared their training camp schedule - - should be public soon.

The Patriots Pro Shop has lots of gear and is at the side of the stadium with the lighthouse. Tebow items went on sale 7.5 hours from his signing. Make sure to spend, spend, spend!!!!!!!

I find that line of thinking absolutely ridiculous. There are tons of examples of players being "missed" by everyone, being passed on by all 32 teams multiple times.

But you could easily argue that a lot of teams could use Tebow as a QB if GMs weren't afraid of the media attention and scrutiny that went with him.

Say what you want about his skills as a QB, or how your grandmother could throw a deep ball better, or how he can't read a defense. But in his one year as a starting QB, he had a 72.9 QB rating, a 12-6 TD to INT ratio (plus 6 more TDs rushing), and a 7-4 record as a starter.

There are a few teams whose starters didn't produce at that level in 2012 (Browns, Cardinals, Chiefs, Jaguars, Titans, and yes, the Jets), but even if you don't buy into Tebow as a starting QB, you could EASILY argue he's a better option than a lot of the back-up QBs in this league.

Besides the above-mentioned teams, he's an upgrade in Pittsburgh (Bruce Gradkowski), Baltimore (Tyrod Taylor, Caleb Hanie), Oakland (Terrelle Pryor), and St. Louis (Kellen Clemens) just to name a few.

In a league where John Skelton gets to start multiple games last season, there is absolutely a place for Tim Tebow, maybe not as a starting QB, but he's certainly a better QB than some of the crap that took NFL snaps out there last season.

None of this is to suggest he'll even make the roster here. But you're delusional if you think he's not worthy of a roster spot somewhere in the NFL based solely on talent.
Please name me "tons of players...missed by everyone" after multiple years in the league. Does not happen. It's not as if he's slipped under the radar screen.

Its a free country (at the moment)

Its the Pats best interest to have Tebow succeed at QB for a trade next season. In blowouts and vs the Jets, Brady should come out in the 4th and let Tebow do his thing.
