The Official Round 1 2013 NFL Draft Thread

I would love to hear just one thought from either of them regarding 2 players that the Pats should draft in rounds 2 and 3 in order to become a better team because it is clear that neither Deus nor BradytoMoss have one single thought as to what they should do in the next two days.

Whine, whine, whine

You began with "I didn't whine at all." ....and then continued you perpetual "troll" whine.

You can't handle the fact that you are being called out for being factually wrong.

Your ego is bruised, so the only thing you can then do is to cry "troll". Better you should cry it out.

For my part, I repeat that the kneejerks who are complaining about not getting the big name and how the Pats won't be getting any starters who can contribute right off the bat from the 3rd or 4th rounds are just as silly as the guy who posted within minutes a thread saying that what BB did to Minnesota is illegal in several states.

But don't let your perpetual certitude get in the way of reality.

1.) Pointing out that you're trolling isn't whining. It's pointing out that you're trolling.

2.) I haven't been factually wrong, at all. My ego has no bruising. You were wrong about the chart and you were really silly with your Revis argument, and I'm sure you realize that about both, since the refutations have already been put out there. If there's a bruised ego here, it belongs to you.

3.) I was fine with dropping down. I didn't want the team to drop down so far that they missed the top WRs, but I didn't oppose dropping down. That's available to be found on other threads. Since the team can still trade back up high enough to grab the type of players I was looking at, I've not complained about this trade down, but have noted what my position would be if they didn't make subsequent moves. In other words, I'm waiting to see what the team does with it.

But don't let reality get in the way of your trolling. I'd be happy to watch you pretend that the points somehow didn't match up almost exactly, or that players somehow change the points, or whatever other lame avenue you would be trying next but, unfortunately, tomorrow's an extraordinarily early day for me and I must be off.

Now, you go troll all you want. Just troll better.

BTW, this poster's name is Brady2Moss.

Please don't impugn this poster to Brady to Moss. He's already been confused with Brady2Moss twice and it's not fair to the guy. :)

Translation - Deus will be whining when the draft is over and Brady2Moss will continue all of the way to the end of round 7.

Wow - that was just impressive. Thanks for the insight.

As insightful as you waiting for Godot, i mean Bequette, to break out this year.

Man you really are on your game tonight no one can offer an opposing view because this is a Patriots fan board we must all be homers.

The Patriots have some newfound flexibility with four picks for the second day of the draft, and director of player personnel Nick Caserio said there are some players still on the board who they considered selecting with the 29th pick before they shipped it to the Vikings.

"If some of those players start to come off and then we want to make a move up, we have maybe a little more flexibility to do that," Caserio said. "I think we're open to anything at this point."

Opposing view. I would settle for a view that made sense with a side of solutions.

You and Deus are like my two labradors in the middle of the dames' cycle tonight.

Nobody does Nathan Thurm better than Deus! :D

Yes because I was the only one hurling insults in that thread  stop acting like someone has attacked you personally its a message board settle down, it'll all be ok.

heh...I'm fine...this is very enjoyable watching you spin and spin and "but!!...but!!...but!"...it's obvious you're not too bright, because you seem to have no memory of the many hundreds of vile, vicious posts you've hurled at every member here who disagrees with your "genius"...

I hope your parents make sure to teach you that just because you have checks remaining in your checkbook, it doesn't mean you still have money in your account because you don't understand the first thing about economics.

Evidently, you never heard of Gronkowski, Hernandez and Mayo. In your mind, only Brady has been given a big contract.

Just look at the plights of Baltimore and Pittsburgh right now. How much can your Redskins or Jets spend this offseason????? You'd LOVE being a fan of those teams - - they give out GREAT signing bonuses (until 'the checks in their checkbooks run out').

What a garbage post I spent numerous occasions explaining what my definition of cheap is in relation to the patriots and how I don't want to be the Redskins. Maybe your parents should teach you how to read.

Orly I have a biology and economics degree from a top 15 university and I know nothing about economics

now there's some real genius stuff....so...I have a post in which you state you are still matriculating and yet here you insult a board moderator who is probably old enough to be your father and claim multiple degrees from "a top 15 university!!!!"....hilarity....why not a "top ten!!"...I mean, if I was going to pull crap out of my crapper I'd at least make the reference somewhat believable..."top 15!!!" is just, well, plain idiotic. In fact I haven't ever heard anyone brag about being "top 15!!!!!" where universities are concerned. For our edification please tell us, what universities would these be?...and why do we have to know about your "biology" degree...it doesn't make sense...."I have a hat and red socks so don't YOU tell me about the color of socks!!!"...just plain nutty. Are you an insane person???

He scored an 11 on the wonderlic.

Ben Watson scored a 48 on his Wonderlic. Did that help his ability to make football plays? For a guy with his athletic ability and apparent smarts based on his Wonderlic score, his play was underwhelming.

Nope, but a pre-requisite seems to be some level of intelligence. Just because you have intelligence doesn't mean you will be good in this system, but if you don't you are likely to fail unless you are one of the most athletically gifted tight ends of all time. Patterson is no where near that type of athlete at his position.

By not criticizing now and "waiting to see what Belichick does next" -this makes you, in your own words, a bleating sheep. ;)

At least you have pulled out this accusation numerous times when other posters have done this very thing: opted to reserve their own judgement (however lesser) and expressed that they had enough trust in Belichick that they would wait and see how things turn out.

As one sheep to another: Weeeeeeelcome to the foooooooold, brotherrrrrrr.

Now chew your cud (do sheep chew cuds?) and repeat after me: In Belichick We Trust. In Belichick We Trust.

That is really terrible logic. A lack of intelligence implies a much lower chance of success at receiver for the Patriots. High intelligence does not necessarily imply a great chance.

How do you explain Jim Kelly and Steve McNair scoring 15 on their Wonderlic test but then go on to have great careers in a position that requires even more mental capacity than WRs?

My point is that Wonderlic is not a be all and end all of measuring one's football intelligence.

You are bringing up completely irrelevant factoids, we are talking about a wr in the Patriots offense. Your argument is weak.

You brought up his Wonderlic score as a measure of his football intelligence. I merely cited examples that scoring low on Wonderlic test doesn't necessarily mean one can't have a higher football intelligence.

So your "he's too dumb to play WR in our offense because his Wonderlic score was low" argument is what's weak.

Nope you brought up wonderlics of people playing different positions in different schemes on different teams in different eras. All of which has nothing to do with Patterson and the Patriots scheme.

You have fallen in love with Patterson and are ignoring the history of this team the last 13 years and the WRs that do and do not succeed in this offense. I'm done here you clearly do not understand what history has shown leads to thriving in this offense. So sorry that we did not get Patterson he would have been super awesome I'm sure.

Some comments on the comments.

1. Ian,I had trouble getting on most of the night. I'm sure I wasn't alone. I don't know if it was the volume of traffic or some technical snafu. But it was frustrating to wait 3 hours to finally have something to say and then be unable to say it. ;)

2. After Datone Jones and Sylvester Williams were taken, I had a very strong feeling that we would be trading down. There was really nothing left that was of interest once Jones was taken, except WR's and as we know, that wasn't gonna happen. ;)

3. I liked what the Vikings did with their first 2 picks. OTG thinks Floyd is overrated, but I think Mayock is generally very good, and he loved him. Rhodes was my first choice for a CB likely to be at the end of the round. The Patterson pick was more questionable. Not so much that they took a WR, but that they took Patterson.

4. I thought Buffalo was very smart to trade out of their pick and add more. I thought they were nuts to pick Manuel. That was a huge reach and one they could have likely gotten with one of their 2nd round pick or at worst they could have trade back into the late first round and grabbed him. Very curious.

5. I liked the Jets pick of Richardson more than their pick of Mingo. Still they look to have the makings of a very good and young DL

6. The Dolphins continued to add the big names, but I'm not sold on Jordan. I love his speed and length, but a little too light in the pants for my taste. The same goes for Mingo. I would have been much more concerned if they used that pick on one of the top OLmen..

7. I'm less impressed with our trade that I was at first blush. Our 2 picks in the 2nd are a lot closer to being 3rd rounders than I would have liked. So it looks like we are going to add 7 or 8 new players, most of whom will NOT be household names. While there are still a lot of good WR's left and a few pass rushing DE's like Hunt, I'm concerned that at 53, even those guys will be gone. It certainly isn't a "steal" like some would suggest.

8. Just a suggestion to DI and B2M, since you keep posting the same crap, why don't you save yourselves and us some time and just write "ditto" or "see previous post. I don't know why people would get into a pissing contest with these 2. That's what they live for. They are professional irratators and antagonists. Its not a "discussion" for them. Its a chance to piss someone off or aggrevate them. No rational or reasoned point of view is going to matter, so why bother.

9. OK now that we have three 7th rounders, I really hope we use one to grab the British shot putter with the crazy combine stats. It would really make for an interesting TC. In reality though those 3 picks are really just getting a jump on our UDFA group, and usually when we have multiple picks in the 7th, we end up with at least one contributor, even though none of us will give much of a **** on Saturday.
