Speculation: Patriots set to make big trades

Is this going to be a BIG trade like Jim Irsay's twitter announcements of BIG trades and BIG signings?

If the Pats sign Amendola, sign Jones, want to sign Sanders, want to keep Lloyd at a reduced salary, does a trade for Fitz make any sense?

I agree with those that think a trade to Cleveland for a 3rd and either more picks or a player makes sense. That allows the Pats to give up a 3rd for Sanders. They could very well call the Steelers with a "we can do this the hard way or the easy way offer", likely Welker in '07.

As an aside, are we not totally screwed if Talib signs elsewhere and IncBob is making ***** up again about trying trading for Revis?

Well, if a Fitzgerald trade goes through, it is doubtful Lloyd sticks around or Sanders doesn't get a deal. More likely Lloyd would be gone.

This thread is like back in the day when someone made up a general unstubstantiated rumor in 1st period for the **** of it then all day the entire school is running around talking about it and you hear the craziest **** floating around. Fitzgerald and Revis? Keep dreaming lol

If he is willing to play for his current contract, this trade makes lots of sense. I could use my first on Fitz or I could draft a WR who might start next season. Hmmmm. I chose Fitz.

For me, the question is compensation. I'm not sure our first in enough to make the deal.

How about Calvin Johnson....

Suh might have worn out his welcome in Detriot, if they traded Megatron I pretty sure Matt Stafford would cry.

If they are planning to cut Lloyd no matter what (and the talk of keeping Lloyd at a lower salary is BS), a trade for Fitz makes more sense. Didn't BB have a major Woodrow Wilson for him coming out of Pitt?

I just don't see it happening and it doesn't get them any closer to solving their chronic defensive backfield issue. I don't know if I can handle watching another season during which they cannot get off the damn field on 3rd and long.

Yeah my guess is Calvin Johnson and Ndamukong Suh for Ryan Mallet, Ron Brace and Matt Slater....

Only if Detroit throws in Stafford too because we WILL need a backup with Mallett gone

Who backs up Brady if we get rid of Mallet? Hoyer has a 2nd round tender on him, and Cassel signed with the vikes.

I can't remember the last time we went into camp without an established back up?

Fitzgerald's on a current contract of 8 yrs/120 million.

You find that to be reasonable and realistic? I certainly don't.

His cap hit is 18 million in 2014, goes up to 21 million in 2015, and 18 million again for 2016. The last 2 yrs of his deal are 15 million dollar cap hits.

A tremendous amount of that would be dead money left on Arizona's tab. Someone else already posted the hit if he was traded.

But, all gleeful fantasy speculation aside, the amount of dead money for Arizona to choke down would be exactly why it's hard to imagine this happening.

You talking to me?

You act like it's July. Chill. There are vet backups galore out there. And if we really need one to win games rather than to spell a bell rung Brady in a loss, likely the season is toast.

Tebow is going to be available.

Maybe he'd redo his entire deal to play next to actual receiving threats (Gronk, AH, possibly Amendola) again and have a real QB throwing to him. He hasn't seen any of that since Warner left after 08. Theres also a running game here, Arizona's 2nd best offensive weapon is Peterson returning punts.

That said, this trade is so unrealistic, trading isn't out of character for BB, but one of this magnitude certainly is.

Get Vinny Testaverde for all I care. Whoever it is will crash and burn anyway.

How about 2012, when we went into camp with Ryan Mallett as the backup? Kafka has more NFL experience than Mallett, and while he obviously doesn't have the same physical skills, or potential, I'd wager that, for this season, he would be just fine.

Wow, sorry for throwing water on that fire.

Please, continue to drool and speculate :)

His salary this year is only $5M. If we don't want to pay him next year, we can cut or trade him them
